Hi from Minneapolis!

I’m the proud mom of a 29 year old guy with Asperger’s. Hoping to find social opportunities for him as he is very bright, creative and funny but hasn’t met other Aspergian’s who are as high functioning.

I’m wondering if there are local forums on WP where one can find friends in same area? We both live in Hopkins, MN but he lives in a condo independently.

Welcome. I highly recommend you contact the Autism Society of MN at ausm.org. They're located in St. Paul. They have a support group that meets regularly and I'm told has up to 40 autistic people attend the meetings. They have outings, etc as well. They also have a support group for parents of autistic children which meets the fourth Thursday of every month if I'm not mistaken.

Hi, I am new to the forum and also the mother of a son on the Spectrum. He’s younger than your son. So glad that your son is living independently. I am hoping for the same for mine. I live far from you, unfortunately (in Florida.). I would appreciate it if you could read my post and give some words of encouragement for me. BTW, I think you and I are both on the right track, seeking knowledge and support from others on this forum. Regards!
