Animal cruelty is going to be a federal felony, the president did something really good. USA pets will be safe.

Absolutely!
Firstly, for the sake of the animals, deliberate abuse should have ALWAYS been a felony.
In addition, because those imprisoned for felony animal abuse will HAVE to undergo various psychiatric evaluations, and I absolutely believe that potential murderers/serial killers will be discovered/diagnosed.
I believe that those people always start with animals.

I'm glad it's been upgraded federally.

It tends to be prosecuted as a misdemeanor in New York State----though there is a felony in the statutes.

Now I’m waiting for PETA to exploit this new law in every way possible.

Interesting point. Some serial killers do start out that way, with abusing animals.

People who abuse animals in the home are very likely to abuse children in the home. I had to do a mandated reporter training, recently, and animal abuse was one of the red flags it mentioned.

I have been hoping that people would start taking animal abuse more seriously.
