in hind site stress relief was pretty important ,, but am pretty sure , thst brains wired prehaps alittle more densely can be hit much harder by introducing those things into ones system.
where younger and trying to be NT like had consumed much beer one night ,shame on the company that makes Michelob. 4 day hangovers , i do not think are common in the NT community . prolly not the best habits to indulge in .Do enjoy coffee . found to avoid coffee and liqour together
but it was acquired taste ..when little thought it coffee tasted like ant poison . And 8 airline sized bottles of varying liqour and whiskey sit in waiting in my cupboard for a day might still need a mixed drink . (airline sized bottles = 1 oz.).

I don't drink alcohol, for two reasons. One being I hate the taste, the other being family history. I'm of partial Scottish descent (one of my grandparents was from there), so I might have a higher addiction risk than most because of that.

I used to drink alcohol as a way of trying to cope with stress and anxiety, and sometimes to knock myself unconscious during bad periods of insomnia. As I've aged I've become much less able to tolerate it though, and having even one drink after a stressful day was triggering massive meltdowns. I'd been cutting way down on it the past couple of years, and recently made the decision to stop completely.

There's alcoholism on both sides of my family, and my dad is currently sinking into dementia while doing little else except drinking every day. It's horrible to watch, and I just want nothing more to do with it.

I drank alcohol (beer) in quite large amounts when I was 8 years old. Mother and grandmother gave me it and family might think that it would be good for my health :( After first Holy Communion I stopped to drink ethanol. Maybe I drank small amount of C2H5OH when I was 10 - 12 (New Year) and once I ate pancakes with beer before 18th birthday but I intially did not know that they contain alcohol. In adulthood I do not drink ethanol at all and I think that total abstinence from C2H5OH is good for soul, body and mentality. I strongly recommend it!

Today I got discharge from day hospital to which I was going since 14.10.2019 and on it it was written that I have absolute ban of drinking alcohol and using psychoactive substances (illicit drugs used for intoxication).

'despite being autistic' makes it sound like being autistic is necessarily a reason not to drink, and I don't think that's the case (though I can see lots of personal reasons peripheral to being autistic why someone might choose not to).

I drink a pretty normal amount, which when I'm home by myself is not a lot-occasional glass of port in the evenings in the winter (stove on and a glass of port when it's raining outside is ever so cosy), in the summer maybe once a week (probably more like every couple of weeks) I have a couple of summery drinks like pims or get some wine (I like cider but my cider drinking days are over since I became allergic to apples). Social things, I'll have a few glasses of wine or a couple of beers (though my stomach is increasingly against either). Maybe a few times a year (usually at Christmas and New year) I get drunk enough on red wine to end up with a hangover.

I did realise recently when I couldn't drink (I was on strong co-codamol for a nerve problem and it seems particularly effective on me) that I do rely on wine somewhat to socialise. I felt a lot more awkward than usual, but it's not at all to the extent I feel like I need to drink to socialise (I still went out).

I've stopped regular drinking and only on occasions, health reasons mostly and lost interest. It was part of family tradition until I was diagnosed with a fatty liver disease. Nobody in the family has drank the same way ever since.

Neither a heavy drinker nor a fanatical abstainer.

No, I am totally allergic to ethyl alcohol. I have to be careful using it in the laboratory, as the vapor from it alone can still harm me.

Did go through a brief period of regular (almost nightly) heavy drinking during first term at university: but it got pretty boring to be honest.
I carried on going out once or twice a week and having 2-5 pints of beer with a small circle of associates for a few years, but since then it’s dropped off to being I have one pint of ale at home about 3 times a year... and I don’t always finish it!
Tangentially however: cannabis was the mind altering substance I went for massively both before and after uni: to the extent that I lost all meaningful functionality and was just bumbling around in a fuzz without a single thought that went in a straight line: never managed to completely kick the habit, but I’ve got it down to a few crumbs in a roll-up about an hour after dinner and repeat an hour later then bedtime.

Hadn’t heard of alcohol being particularly bad for us, but from my own subjective experience I’d say be very cautious with the aforementioned other: in anything more than homeopathic quantities it definitely intensifies shutdowns, meltdowns and any latent tendencies to schizotypal ideation in my case.

I drink 2-3 times a week. I mainly drink red wine but sometimes I have a beer or a drop of single malt whiskey. If I’m going to a gig, I will almost always have a beer or two. When I was younger, I rarely drank but I gradually developed a taste for alcohol especially wine.

I have no interest in drinking alcohol. It would be unwise, also, as I take several medications that are incompatible with drinking alcohol.

I drank casually in my younger days.

I never drank in my life. I come from a religious background so drinking never made it on the list.

I don't drink because I don't really like how alcohol tastes that much, and I also don't like how it makes me feel. I've never been truly drunk, just a little woozy, and all it did was make me feel heavy and tired. I also don't like the idea of a hangover the next morning. I'm trying out the Bumble app to find new friends, but it's really hard because 90% of the people on there describe at least one of their hobbies as drinking wine and/or bar hopping, which is the opposite of a good time for me.

I've never really liked the taste of alcohol. When I younger this was a pain, but now I don't mind.

I'll drink usually a glass of wine or a weak mixed drink socially.
