The Dark Age of Animation (most people think of the 70s and 80s as being the Dark Age, but it really started in the 50's when they stopped putting time and effort into animation in theaters and started cutting a lot of corners to put it on TV.

Blatant racism and sexism.

And everyone thought homosexuals=pedophiles.

Frozen meals that were designed to be quickly repaired so it could be eaten in front of the TV but was full of junk and tasted like plastic.

TV shows with housewives wearing pearl necklaces and pearls while doing housework while the husband was the only source of income and the children were perfect little angels. Yuck.

Smoking on TV, however, was perfectly acceptable. Just like it was everywhere else.

The Hayes code that censored just about everything, although that really started in the late 20's. TV couples couldn't even share a bed until the 60's and the first ones who did were cartoon characters - Fred and Wilma Flintstone.

Poodle skirts. Those are pretty cute, actually.

Rock and/or Roll. "Rock Around The Clock" was hated by parents. Although the song sounds really harmless, parents hated the implication of dancing and partying all all night long back when 15 year olds were supposed to go to bed at 7:30 every night.

TV Sets that were huge wooden boxes but had tiny little screens. And of course, they were in black and white.

Back To The Future. Of course, there was quite a bit of artistic licensing when it came to that era, or so I've heard.
