I was bored so I thought I'd ask what sort of music you like. I like country, march and techno, but I quite like reggae too.

Genre = a style or category of art, music, or literature.

The options listed in the poll should give you a bit of a clue.

Classical (mostly solo/small ensemble chamber music),
Metal (provided they’ve remembered what a tune is)
Folk (esp. with droning instruments)
Jazz (but have to be in the mood)
EDM (rarely, and only if it’s got a dark & brooding athmosphere)

he types all this out sure that he could pick some more nits if he tried hard enough :P

Most of what I like would be categorised as folk or folk rock.

I'm not entirely sure what sub-genre of metal I like. Maybe what I like doesn't just fall under one. I like hard rock as well, and classic rock (that's what I grew up hearing in the car because it's what my mom likes). I used to only like light metal, but I've found recently that I like some harder stuff as well. I guess I really just like to be able to understand the lyrics instead of it all consisting of unintelligible roaring, and some bands use instruments/pitches that hurt my ears so I avoid them. Let's see, some of the bands I like... Most things by Metallica, older Dragonforce (not such a fan of them after they changed singers, they also changed the style of lyrics), some Nightwish, some Kamelot, Disturbed, what I've heard of Alice in Chains (which, granted, isn't much), Godsmack, oh, and of course my absolute favorite, Tool. Might've forgotten one or two.

I like hip-hop, I also like rap(more the music than the lyrics), I also like pop, and rock, I like techno, oh screw it I just listen to just about anything! The only music I couldn't listen to is heavy metal with really loud metal and screaming cause it hurts my head.

A lot of metal, but there are a lot of different sub-genres of metal and I like some much more than others. Like most metal bands I like are like more traditional heavy metal style, black metal, power metal, folk metal and some melodic death metal. I'm not as much into like thrash metal and regular death metal.

Outside of metal I like a lot of non-metal rock, post punk, industrial/electronic music but I prefer the kinda darker stuff infused with a bit of a kinda heavier rock or metal sound to the crazy happy techno stuff or whatever people call it, that stuff is just like nails on a chalkboard to me. And well really anything I hear that I like, certainly hard to stick to any specific genres I have even heard more hip hop/rap stuff I like, I don't like most I've heard but there is some that I can enjoy. And I also hate most of that kinda 90's style pop stuff but even in that there are a few songs I kind of like. I guess really the only genre I can really say that I absolutely hate is country...but even the i kinda like Johnny cash who is associated with country but I absolutely hate the twangy guitar stuff with whiny/nasally vocals.

Pop, jazz, country, some classical, some march, oldies, and something I don't even know what's called: sounds of nature (like rain, rivers streaming, ocean surf, frogs croaking, wolves howling) often accompanied by soft music.

From my Spotify year end review I seem to like a lot of Chamber Pop, Post Punk and Electro Pop.

I like a lot of extreme metal and punk, I don't listen to much rock outside of those genres. I like hip-hop and some gabber and industrial too. I like romantic era music too.
