I see that's Hermes' Caduceus. Greek God of thieves, travelling and delivering messages to the other Gods. Personally, I find it somewhat interesting how over time certain symbols change and get confused with one another. Originally medicine was represented by Aesculapius' staff. God of medicine. The staff only has one snake, whereas Hermes' Caduceus has two intertwining snakes and wings on the top. Rather fitting that the God of thieves seems to have stolen the role of representing medicine.
