That would have been my main concern over shoveling raw monkey brain in my mouth. That and throwing up. But that scene showed it's not just the locals who indulge, tourists get in on it too.

We used to eat that on 1:42 in my country. Sea urchins.

Also grilled sheep brains - but it's a very bad idea due to prions.

Don't think they ate the brains; just eating the meat of an infected animal spreads the diseasewell enough.

Strange dishes in my country (some are the same in the video by Erza), mostly considered outdated food:

- Grilled lamp/sheep brains
- Sea urchin (cut in half, eaten raw with spoon)
- Raw lamb liver cubes.
- Squid, with sauce made out of its ink; not sure if all species have edible ink.
- Cooked sheep head :-/
- Tiny birds with pomegranate sauce.
- Goat milk.
- Ground snails (for some reason, only druze and christian communities eat that one, maybe because it’s abundant in mountains).
- Sea snails and oysters (not that uncommon in the world).
- Flower / rose juice, as ingredient for some recipes.

I think the two worst are the brains and raw liver, snail is closely third.

Squirrel brains were considered a delicacy here.
Other weird food.
Fried gizzards
Fried livers
Chitlins
Mountain oysters
Calf brains scrambled with eggs
Tripe
Pickled pigs feet
Hogshead souse
Hog rinds or pig skins

Mostly older folks ate the really strange stuff.

I still eat fried chicken/lamb liver. Socked in olive oil and sour pomegranate sauce, otherwise it tastes bitter.

Squirrel brains? .... now that sounds totally f’ked up.

The older folks love them, they used to crack the heads open and feed the little brains to me.Also the little tongue.
Till I got older.
My ex loved them.He always hunted with a .22 and shot them in the heart so he could eat the brains.
I left out musk rat, and beavers. In Louisiana they eat Nutria rats and alligator tail.
Texans eat armadillos and they carry leprosy.
I’ve also seen people eat fried rattlesnake.
Really poor people would eat possum back in the day.

That is a picture of shellfish, not bat meat.
