I have borderline asperger syndrome and ADHD.

I have dyspraxia, ADHD and aspergers traits.

I taught myself to have a strong mind for making decisions, thinking and show empathy.

By accident, I have found out have ADHD.

Psychiatrists have told me that I have ADHD.

Is there a relationship between borderline asperger syndrome and ADHD ?

Hmm interesting...
Of what I know is, that borderline is somehow very close to aspergers (in girls espeically). And this often leads to wrong diagnoses in girls with aspergers here in europe at least. If I look at the criterias of borderline, I could easily get diagnosed with it, eventho it couldn't be possible for me to be borderline. I have AS for sure! ADHD same thing I guess. It is in some ways very close... Sometimes I feel like I do have ADHD, sometimes I don't. And at the end it all leads to AS.. Asperger is still the core of all of it(for me). But if you turn it around, people with Borderline or ADHD often clearly DON'T have Aspergers.

When two things have somewhat similar symptom sets it would make sense that there would be overlap in how they present. ADHD (especially ADHD-PI) and ASD are both associated with poor executive function.

A link? Yes

Aspergers can often be misdiagnosed as ADHD. I was given that misdiagnosis when I was a kid. To make things a little more complicated, ADHD also will accompany Asperger syndrome often too.

Apologies for being pedantic, but I'm not sure the OP means Borderline Personality Disorder or Borderline Asperger's.

Assuming the latter, it gets a bit murky at the edges, and there's not necessarily a mutual exclusivity when it comes to personality disorders/types and neurological conditions/types. There will be a surprising amount of overlaps and ultimately it comes down to whatever coping strategies improve your quality of life.

^^^ I agree with the above poster. So far as ADHD/ADD being a co-morbid with autism, this is very common. My personal view is that you are either "on the spectrum" or not. That how you're affected, meaning how severe you're affected by sensory stimuli, emotions or lack of outward emotion, anxiety etc from one day to the next is the determining factor on how you present from one day to the next. eg. I can be what would be considered "highly functioning", running a business ... for a good period of time, then the next, be rendered unable to function.

Thanks I shall read up on those links you shared.

I like to think that those on the borderline of diagnosis (which after all is entirely dependent on the expertise of the diagnostician) are kind of like ambassadors with a mind in both headspaces.
