Sup, dudes, this is your dude, TheLeondude.

Anyway, I don't know if this is the appropriate place or not but I'm currently working on an animated series where every character is on the autism spectrum. Bit odd of a concept, I know, but I'm proud to be autistic so I thought why not make a series out of that.

Now, in order to get accurate portrayals of those with our condition, I thought it best to exclusively cast people that are on the autism spectrum. So I figured this would be the best place to do it for anyone that is interested.

I would send you a link to the Casting Call Club page but, since I'm new here, it doesn't allow me to use URLs. If anyone's interested, just reply to this thread and I'll PM you the details (unless it won't allow me to use URLs in PMs either).

There seem to be conflicting reports as to the legitimacy of websites devoted to casting wannabe actors.  Some seem to be phishing sites, while others seem to deliver only promises in exchange for your membership fees.  Be careful, and wait for Alex (or the moderators) to give their approval and/or endorsements before you commit or share your personal information.  Anyone can put up a website.

Sign me up, it would be nice to have an excuse for chattering to myself in funny voices.

Where is this located? I'm assuming you need people to come into a studio?

You've probably got a cellphone, and they're usually able to make audio recordings as well as automatically reduce noise so you'll get a cleaner recording with less work than I'll get with my mic before I apply NR manually.

I have the world's cheapest studio ever.

Actually, you don't. The whole thing is entirely online. All you got to do is record some lines using whatever audio recording software you have and send them to my email address. MP3 and WAV files are acceptable.

Oh okay, well I could do that, but if you have a bunch of voices recorded on different equipment, won't it all not match, since the frequency response will be different on different equipment?

That's a risk I'm willing to take.

I have a Wolfman voice!

My wife thinks it’s weird.

I bet that the voice would be quite in the Spectrum mode.

Sort of “growly.”

I am autistic, but I am wondering, what is it about a voice that is unique, if the person is autistic? Will viewers be able to tell the difference between an autistic voice and a NT voice?

I don't think they will but casting autistic voice actors makes the vocal performances for the autistic characters more authentic. Or at least I think they would.

I’m very interested. I’ve done a lot of theatre, so I’m a pretty good actor.
