Dear MAGA,

• In January, the Trump administration assassinated a top Iranian commander and almost started World War Three.

• In February, Trump was acquitted of impeachment charges by a corrupt Republican majority despite clear evidence of guilt.

• In March, the coronavirus began to spread like wildfire thanks to Trump's criminally negligent failure to take early action.

• We spent the next two and half months in lockdown as the death toll in this country rose to over 100,000 and millions lost their jobs.

• In June, Trump used tear gas to clear the streets of homeless people around a church he never attends to provide a photo-opportunity for himself holding up a Bible he never reads.

• Meanwhile, American cities are burning as arsonists and looters demonstrating against the death of one man are met with rubber bullets, truncheons, and more tear gas.

So here is my question: Have you made America great again yet?

Sincerely,

Fnord

I think the OP summed things up pretty well. He's always thorough and never posts without double checking.

#I'm not American either but have been watching the show from the sidelines, armed with plenty of well salted popcorn. Is this divided America of June 2020 really what the MAGAs wanted?

Similar bowl of popcorn here. But I'm a bit concerned. We can deal with the pandemics and economical regress on our own but if he finally succeeds to start a major war, this spot in the middle of European Lowlands would not be the best place to live.

Tax cuts 1.0.

Maybe killing Al Baghdadi and dropping the MOAB on ISIS? Those are probably the big three.

^While the greatness of those achievements is debatable, the original question posed to MAGA types remains.

Have you made America great again yet?

To put it another way, how was America from January to June in 2016 in comparison to the same months in 2020?

Divide and conquer.

Popcorn here too, president Clown and his circus would be nothing but entertaining if hadn't been for the fact that this clown has actual power. My main concern is the lack of climate deal and the future of the endangered species act.

I fully agree. I am not sure what his motives are with this, except he seems totally hell bent on destroying the Obama legacy and whatever he feels fit in with that. He's the type who would build a golf course on the last remaining uninhabited island.

He has no charm so I'm surprised at the levels of support he has. Even here in South Africa he has some cheerleaders on Facebook.

Hard to achieve greatness when so many are working so hard to tear the nation down.

At this point, forget greatness. Mussolini was great. He deserved his place--on a hook, dead, in front of a filling station.

I want America to be good, not great. What this country needs is philosophers, not the smug neckbearded bastards on youtube, but people who believe that the good, true, and beautiful--the transcendents--are attainable. Rerum Novarum talked about this. Vatican II talked about this. Even in a vaguely Deistic way the Founding Fathers talked about this, but we've got a porn parody of the Spirit of '76 played out right in front of us.

There is no point in a great America if we can't be a good America. At this point, America is great, but not good. There are only good Americans.

He will be proud of
Having achieved great work, tremendous achievements, despite Obamagate, and being fully exonerated from the crimes the corrupt democrats were accusing him of .

From the outside, looking in, The only "dividing" I have seen has actually come from the other side:

My understanding was that Mr Trump's goal was to make "America" great again, indicating a focus inward to help the citizens of the country rather than focussing outward as "world police". In this, he appears to have only been seeking to divide those who "owed alligience" to the country (citizens) from those who were seeking a free ride at the expence of his country.

On the other side of the political spectrum, there had been a continued "tantrum" (I can't think of another word to describe the continued efforts to try and derail any action being taken to actually fulfill the election "promises" which had been made, or to try and remove the President from office) over the fact that the person they expected to win had not won, and so at every chance they had been seeking to prevent any action that would benefit the citizens of the country.

Prior to the pandemic and riots, as far as I understand things, the economy was actually going quite well, with unemployment down to 3.7% last year, at which time they would have seen the country as becoming "great" - less unemployed leads to higher wages needing to be offered in order to obtain or retain staff, as well as less "welfare" needing to be paid, meaning this money can be invested elsewhere in the community.

Asking a question such as you have, when an external factor (pandemic) and internal factor (result of the opposition's continued efforts to stoke division between communities) have come together to reverse much (most?) of the gains of the previous years would seem somewhat disingenious...

On a side note, I am curious how the protests and riots are distributed in the country: Is there any resource indicating what number\percentage of "Democrat" controlled areas are experiencing the division and riots compared to "Republican" controlled areas (in terms of mayors/governors), as it would be interesting to see how this division is distributed\focussed...After all, if the Republicans have been stoking division such as has been implied here, you would expect to see the riots taking place in predominantly Republican areas, and similarly, if the Democrats were seen as the ones making a group feel divided/downtrodden, then no doubt the areas under their control would be more likely to feel the backlash should the downtrodden rise up - I can't think of any reason a group would riot against their friends or supporters.
