I think mine is quite low. The sole of my right foot is really sore due to hard skin. I had it before, but not quite as bad.. I was told by the foot specialist, then, it was due to putting more pressure on my right foot . I'm finding myself rocking , and making non-verbal noises in an attempt to get my mind distracted from the soreness.

Generally higher than norm, on top of atypical processing and reaction to painful stimuli over sensory sensitivities.

Somewhat high. A lot of pain for me just feels like a weird pressure instead of actual pain (if I even notice it at all). I've found that since I don't feel actual pain that often as an adult, that when I do it overwhelms me and kicks my anxiety into gear, especially since when I notice it's usually already supposed to be relatively intense.

threshold seems to vary if not directly induced at a nerve site .. then can almost be oblivious to it.
Sudden things seem to almost just go past my awareness level scratches and the like do not register well.

I have a pretty high pain tolerance, I'd say. I have some medical conditions that have caused me to need surgery and I've never had a problem with the pain and never needed the prescription strength painkillers after. I had my wisdom teeth out (all four at once) too a couple years ago and was fine almost immediately after the procedure when before it, I had feared I'd be in a ton of pain. My only problem was my mouth feeling funny (but not painful) and then not being able to eat foods I like.

I really hope you feel better soon, firemonkey

Not sure about physical pain but I have either very low tolerance or very high tolerance for mental pain depending on the way its being looked at.I tend to fixate on some pretty negative stuff that I'm not sure is even based in facts.

Thanks. Stepdaughter had me put both my feet in warm water for a while and then used a foot scrapper. There's slight soreness , but nothing near the level it was before .

I definitely have a low threshold for pain. As a child I was able to tough things out, but now I feel this is much more difficult for some reason.

I think my pain threshold is somewhat, but not terribly, below average. It was higher back when I was regularly self-harming (as one might expect), so I might just be comparing it to that, when it was fairly high.

My pain threshold is very high. Two decades ago, I had a root canal done where they pulled out one of the three roots without a Novocain shot. They could not get the needle up to it, so they just went ahead without it. It was painful for a bit and then fine. My body is made to take pain.

Something I discovered: I can mentally shut off some of my nerves so that I do not feel things if injured. I found this trait a few years ago when I rolled a very heavy piece of equipment over one of my big toes. Initially it really hurt, but I told myself that it does not and the pain went numb shortly afterward. I had broken the big toe and lost the toe nail (bent it completely back), but after a few minutes it was like I had not been injured. No need for a medical doctor, I reset the toe by stepping on it with my other foot to get it back in place. My mother could not believe how much blood I had in my sock (it stained it up to the ankle), yet I was walking around without a problem.

My pain threshold varies. It depends on where in the body, what kind of pain it is and whether I can actually see the injury. For an extreme example, when I was younger I had an accident where I badly hurt my face and had to go to the hospital. However, I complained about pain from a slight scrape on my knee at the time instead of the reason I was being hospitalised.

People have remarked on my pain threshold. I had my nerves checked by a doctor once but everything was functioning as normal. Sometimes I get called a wimp for overreacting, but then there have been other times (such as when I was eighteen) where I've hurt myself and I've gotten the response "Um, didn't that hurt you? Why didn't you react to that?"

I guess in a way I'm both under sensitive and over sensitive which makes questions such as "Are you sensitive to pain?" difficult to answer.

I think mine is above average. When I gave birth to my son I didn’t go to the hospital until late because I didn’t even notice my early labor contractions. My labor progressed fast and I ended up delivering with no epidural.

Mine was pretty high when I was younger, especially when I was a kid.

I'm definitely less tough now.

But it also depends where and what.

I e been told by my doctors it’s high, but I find it hard to answer such questions.
Like when I’m ask what pain level I’m at, or what kind of pain it is.
I can only say i dont know. How would I know if I’m higher or lower without feeling what others feel?
What does a pinching pain feel like vs a dulling pain?
I find these concepts hard.

I have poor interoception (reading body signals), as well as alexithymia. I seldom know what my body is telling me in terms of discomfort or severity but I do have a high pain threshold. I know this because I've had multiple (10+) complex open surgeries, plus many invasive treatments which other people think sound horrendous. I've broken bones and given birth without an epidural. I seldom take any type of pain relief, even when 6-8 weeks of recovery is required for some of my surgeries.

The one type of pain that bothers me and I can't stand, is dental pain. I love going to the dentist because they remove the pain via root canal etc. I'd rather have a complicated dental surgery than the tooth pain which leads to it. I also have an aversion to fevers. I'd rather be very ill, or in extreme pain, than experience a fever.
