Do you refer to your friends as your girl friends?

I do not, and I have never understood the need to differentiate whether they’re ladyfriends or guyfriends. Who cares?

I do on my native language, which is not English. Actually literally it is "friend woman", but we use the same word for romantic partner, too.
On the other hand boyfriend and friend is the same in my language, and friend usually implies male.
