My parents don't respect me. I try to get along, and offer suggestions, but they don't see me as an adult. I'm 45 years old. I'm well-educated.
Other adults my age are raising their kids, working, and socializing with other people. I'm emotionally abused at home. It's extremely hard to see what my peers have. I've tried to conform, and it hasn't worked.

Your life situation sounds extremely unhappy and an invalidating situation. No wonder it it feels so oppressive and lonely to you.

I hope you find a way to "shake the dust off your feet". When we are in a place where they do not show us any kindness nor understanding, then sometimes the only remedy is to move on.

I am going to think of you finding a way to shake that dust from your feet, Desert Woman. You deserve better than this. No one can heal in an unhealthy environment which keeps harming them.

I wish you peace, freedom and healing from this awful situation.
