The FBI opened an investigation into Hunter Biden and associates in 2019 on suspicion of money laundering, a Justice Department official told Sinclair Broadcasting.

The criminal investigation is ongoing, the DOJ official said.

The revelation comes after Tony Bobulinski, a former business partner of Hunter Biden, came forward with a trove of documents regarding the Biden family’s dealings with now-defunct Chinese energy firm CEFC. While Joe Biden has denied that he has ever spoken with Hunter regarding the latter’s overseas business dealings, Bobulinski claims the former vice president is lying.

The Biden campaign has not denied the veracity of any of the materials revealed by the Post or Bobulinski. However, the campaign has stated that “Joe Biden has never even considered being involved in business with his family, nor in any overseas business whatsoever.”

It would be intersting to know if the laptop which they supposedly subpoened (and the emails recently released are supposed to have originated from) has anything to do with this.

But how do we know that when Facebook and Twitter censor anything bad about the Democrats and facilitate reporting of any schmutz on Trump?

Its difficult to assess the level of bias in social media, newsmedia, institutes of higher education without some level of projection though.

A study of the big three broadcast evening newscasts found that the networks have doubled down on their negative coverage of President Donald Trump while covering Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden positively.

The Media Research Center analyzed all coverage of Biden and Trump on the ABC, CBS and NBC evening newscasts from July 29 through Oct. 20.

During that time period, Trump received 839 minutes of coverage, while the former vice president received just 269 minutes, the study said.

During the 839 minutes of Trump coverage, 890 total evaluative comments were made about the president.

Of those comments, 822 (92.4 percent) were negative and 68 (7.6 percent) were positive.

Biden received 91 evaluative comments, 60 of which were positive, while only 31 were negative, according to the media watchdog group.

In total, Biden received 66 percent positive coverage, the MRC study said, compared to 92 percent negative coverage for Trump.

The son of the man expected by many to be America's next President abandoned a laptop containing a treasure trove of top-secret material, including his father's private emails and mobile phone numbers, The Mail on Sunday can reveal.

In an astonishing lapse, Hunter Biden chose to protect his MacBook Pro computer – crammed with what an IT expert last night described as a 'national security nightmare' and 'classic blackmail material' – with a single, simple password: Hunter02.

Remarkably, the 50-year-old businessman and self-confessed drug addict took the machine to a back-street IT store in Delaware in April 2019 to get it repaired – yet never returned to collect it.

Its existence was revealed by the New York Post last month, but the staggering scale and sensitivity of its contents – easily accessible to a hacker with a modicum of skill – is only revealed for the first time today.

The material, none of which was encrypted or protected by anything as basic as two-factor authentication, includes:

* Joe Biden's personal mobile number and three private email addresses as well as the names of his Secret Service agents;
* Mobile numbers for former President Bill Clinton, his wife Hillary and almost every member of former President Barack Obama's cabinet;
* A contact database of 1,500 people including actress Gwyneth Paltrow, Coldplay singer Chris Martin, former Presidential candidate John Kerry and ex-FBI boss Louis Freeh;
* Personal documents including Hunter's passport, driver's licence, social security card, credit cards and bank statements;
* Details of Hunter's drug and sex problems, including $21,000 spent on one 'live cam' porn website and 'selfies' of him engaging in sex acts and smoking crack cocaine;

While Hunter has been accused of using his family name to help with deals with Ukrainian and Chinese firms, there is nothing on the laptop to implicate Joe Biden in any wrongdoing.

Evidence seen by The Mail on Sunday appears to confirm that Hunter left the laptop at the shop and the FBI later picked it up.

Last night, lawyers for Hunter declined to comment.

Representatives for Mr Biden did not respond to repeated requests for comment.

A forensic cyber expert hired to analyse material downloaded from the laptop says it is authentic.

'I have been doing this for 20 years and there is nothing to suggest the laptop or its contents have been interfered with or altered in any way,' said the expert, who has worked with US law enforcement agencies.

'There is no sign of data being added. There is no doubt in my mind that this is the real deal.'

The FBI, which took possession of a copy of the computer hard drive last December, declined to confirm or deny if it was carrying out an investigation.

However, Tony Bobulinski, one of Hunter's former business partners, claims he was interviewed by FBI agents in Washington on October 23 and during that meeting handed over mobile phone records that match material on the laptop.

Last night, a source familiar with the contents of the MacBook Pro said: 'The sheer volume of personal and financial information indicates Hunter has been potential blackmail fodder for years.

'It seems almost inconceivable that Hunter Biden, the son of the man likely to become our next President, was so naive and reckless that he did not have basic encryption or even a two-stage password to protect such highly sensitive material.'

Information stored on the laptop includes names and mobile phone numbers sent to Hunter by staff in Mr Biden's office at the White House in June 2015, a few days after the funeral of Hunter's brother, Beau, who died of brain cancer, aged 46.

As well as the Clintons, there are numbers for two of America's most powerful political leaders – Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell.

An earlier email from November 2011 lists the names and mobile numbers for Mr Biden's Secret Service detail while he was Vice President.

A source said: 'This is all a flagrant breach of security.

'If a hostile state or individual had managed to hack into Hunter's computer –and it wouldn't have been difficult considering the lack of security on it – they would have easily found out who was guarding the Vice President and potentially been able to threaten family members of those Secret Service members.'

FIRST IN PLAYBOOK — Ben Schreckinger’s “The Bidens: Inside the First Family’s Fifty-Year Rise to Power,” out today, finds evidence that some of the purported HUNTER BIDEN laptop material is genuine, including two emails at the center of last October’s controversy.

A person who had independent access to Hunter Biden’s emails confirmed he did receive a 2015 email from a Ukrainian businessman thanking him for the chance to meet Joe Biden. The same goes for a 2017 email in which a proposed equity breakdown of a venture with Chinese energy executives includes the line, “10 held by H for the big guy?” (This person recalled seeing both emails, but was not in a position to compare the leaked emails word-for-word to the originals.)

MORE: Emails released by a Swedish government agency also match emails in the leaked cache, and two people who corresponded with Hunter Biden confirmed emails from the cache were genuine.

While the leak contains genuine files, it remains possible that fake material has been slipped in.

BACKGROUND: A former Hunter Biden business partner, TONY BOBULINSKI, said last year the “10 Held by H” email was genuine and referred to plans for Hunter to hold equity in the venture — which did not get off the ground — on behalf of his father. Biden’s campaign said he never considered going into business with his family.

WHAT DOES THE WHITE HOUSE HAVE TO SAY? Asked for the book whether Joe Biden had an April 2015 encounter with Burisma adviser VADYM POZHARSKYI at a dinner at Cafe Milano, a White House spokesman did not respond directly. Instead, the spokesman referred to an April WaPo article that includes a campaign denial of any meeting. The article confirms Joe Biden’s presence at the dinner, while casting doubt on any Pozharskyi encounter there. Pozharskyi did not respond to requests for comment.

WHAT DOES HUNTER HAVE TO SAY? This spring, he told CBS the laptop “certainly” could be his. His lawyer, CHRIS CLARK, did not respond to questions for the book.

EXCLUSIVE — A copy of Hunter Biden's hard drive obtained by the Washington Examiner is indisputably authentic, and there is no evidence of any hacking or file manipulation, according to an examination conducted by a former Secret Service agent who has testified as a cyberforensics expert in over 100 classified, criminal, and civil matters at the state, federal, and international levels.

The Washington Examiner commissioned Konstantinos "Gus" Dimitrelos to conduct a full forensic examination to determine the drive's authenticity and whether there were any signs of tampering. Using a technique he developed called "digital sandwiching," Dimitrelos cross-referenced thousands of emails, documents, business records, text messages, Apple Notes, photos, geolocation data, travel records, and other information on the drive to conclude that Biden is the only person capable of producing the data.

"My analysis revealed there is a 100% certainty that Robert Hunter Biden was the only person responsible for the activity on this hard drive and all of its stored data," Dimitrelos said, noting that his forensic techniques are reproducible and are the same that he frequently uses as an expert when working on criminal and civil cases.

"Hunter Biden's MacBook Pro was not hacked, and the data contained on the hard drive is authentic," Dimitrelos added. "Based on the data I examined, there was no manipulation of any photographs, emails, documents, or other user activities."
