It's based on one sentence from a book I read years ago.
Most Polyesian cosmogonic myths were about Sky-Father and Earth-Mother having lots of children but the book mentioned some alternative versions, includig the world coming from "lust of a witch on a top of a coconut".
It was so bizarre that it stuck to my memory.

"Sir Roger Penrose, a mathematician and physicist from the University
of Oxford who has just shared this year's Nobel Prize in physics, claims
our universe has gone through multiple Big Bangs, with another one coming in our future.

Penrose received the Nobel for his working out mathematical methods that proved and expanded
Albert Einstein's general theory of relativity, and for his discoveries on black holes, which showed
how objects that become too dense undergo gravitational collapse into singularities – points of infinite mass.

As he accepted the Prize, Penrose reiterated his
belief in what he called "a crazy theory of mine"
that the universe will expand until all matter will
ultimately decay. And then a new Big Bang will
bring a new universe into existence."

This is kind of similar to the Big Bounce idea. The difference is that the universe never collapses but goes to the next Big Bang without a collapse.

It seems more plausible than alternatives that rely on gods, magic sky faeries or the universe being danced into creation by our ancestors.

There's also the steady state or static universe idea where the universe has no beginning, but has always existed.

my theory. When the BB happened two universes were created at once. One of matter. And one of antimatter. The antimatter universe goes backward in time, and the matter universe goes forward in time. We in the latter are expanding out ward. But the anti matter universe is imploding inward in the time before the big bang - as time goes in reverse from the BB in that universe.

Our Universe, at some point in the future, will have a head on collision with an antimatter universe collapsing down upon it from a future big bang event. And when that happens the two universes will annihilate each other in ...and the future big bang will happen. That future big bang will again create the symmetrical two universes - one going back in time, and the other going forward. So the universes are locked in this time loop upon themselves. With one going forever backward and the other going forever forward, but its in a loop instead of straight line of time.
