Which brings up another point: For the sake of privacy and safety, maybe administrators can remove the section in user profiles for other users to view all their posts, if it hasn't been done already? Or at least make that section only visible to the user themself?

You can use Google search engine to search for members posts.
Code:
site:\\wrongplanet.net Member_To_Search_For

I'm sure I'm not the only member who has suggested this, but the Autism diagnosis status selection in the user profiles needs an update to reflect identity-first language and current consensus among the neurodiversity community regarding the Autism spectrum. Since this is a site for all neurodivergence, maybe include options for other conditions as well?

Here are possible suggestions for options. Feel free to critique or make suggestions!

- Autistic (diagnosed)
- Autistic (undiagnosed or self-diagnosed)
- Other neurodivergent
- Not sure if autistic or not
- Neurotypical

Another suggestion is to allow users to enter our own options with a text box the same way we can specify our interests.

Excellent! This is exactly the solution we need. If it is currently unfeasible to change these options on the forum software, then there should at least be some kind of plugin or script that could alter the code on the fly.

You’re not wrong, OP. Unfortunately I think Fnord’s assessment is correct.

If I had the choice between fixing this and fixing the gender options then I’d probably go with gender. But both are important.

Indeed, I'll take your word as a moderator. The solution offered by Solliloquist above should suffice for now.

To be clear I have no control over the technical aspects of the site.

I remember the days when there were just two genders.

Is it dangerous for people to be able to insert things into the database like that?

Or do you just remember the days when you'd only heard about two genders?

I suppose I better not say no more as it will offend everyone.

If you're wondering, I wasn't offended, just pointing out that you might be wrong.

I know, it's just that these days people get so sensitive over this subject.
It should just be male, female and genderdiverse. Why can't things just be kept simple?
I bet a lot of people here wouldn't like an option saying "diagnosed Asperger's but identify as neurotypical". Because that's the option I'd select..

People get "sensitive" over the subject because everytime gender is brought up someone has to chime in with "I remember when there were only two genders," and it gets really, really old really quick.

It seems like it would be very difficult to change the program, but this would be my pick:

ASD:

- Autistic: formally identified
- Autistic: self-identified
- Unsure or awaiting diagnosis

Other:

- Brain Injury
- PTSD
- ADHD
- OCD
- Tourette's Syndrome
- Dyslexia / Dyspraxia / Hyperlexia

There should be the option of selecting more than one response.

I forgot to add parents and family members of people who are ND, as a choice. ^

Yep, or as I also suggested, maybe replace that dropdown menu with a text box like the one used for our interests, so that users can write in their own conditions. A lot of us (myself included) have mental health issues that accompany our autism or ADHD. But also as Fnord suggested, using the signature box could satisfy this.

For me that was less than 10 years ago. In other words the vast majority of my life.

And it's also to dismiss trans people. Just a line used by gender critical.

Is not saying there are only two genders considered hate speech on WP?
