I hate my username. I've lost count how many times people here have personally attacked me because of my username. The idiots seem to think that Joe is my real name. It is NOT. I wish I had never chosen it as a username.

Why can't people use their brains and think "well just because her username says Joe it doesn't mean she's called Joe". But they don't. They'd rather criticise, laugh at me, or personally attack instead.

:x

"Joe" is not your real name?  Nice to know.

That's weird, can't think what's wrong with being called Joe even if it was your real name. If you ask one of the mods maybe they could make an exception and let you change it, although I don't think it's possible on some forums.

Aw, that's sad that people are too lazy to look up what Joe90 is.
I, for one, really enjoy the reference to the Gerry Anderson 1960s science fiction "supermarionation" :D

A moderator can't change usernames.
An admin - I don't know.

People need to know that our usernames aren't always our real names, even if they look like a name. I don't know why some people make such a big deal about it.

I don't think any usernames can be changed, which I suppose is reasonable. But I wish it was possible to make very slight changes to a username, no more than once, with approval of an admin. This could prevent regret of a person's chosen username and bullying.

I thought it was:

Joe=Josie (her real name)

90=1990 the year she was born

But in reality joe90 is an old British TV show from the late 1960s.

The username was just a coincidence. I am not sh*****g on her username here. Just pointing out what I thought her username meant.

Regardless, the person known here as "Joe90" is okay in my book!

:D

I know you're not. There's a difference between pointing something out, and personally attacking. You're doing the former, which is not mean at all. :)

I know most people here aren't bothered by my username.

No my name isn't Josie either, although I might have said here in the past that it was. My real name is quite unusual actually. :)

I hate to see anyone upset by the words of fools. You have a perfectly fine username. Don't let them get to you.

Well... it looks like it's possible, but I'm not going to risk it because (1) I don't know how it would affect the name shown on your existing posts, (2) phpBB is a bit flaky; there's a risk it won't work properly, or does something unexpected like removing your posts under the "old" name - or (3) it just ends up trashing all your posts anyway.

But aside from that, I think your username is great and is one of the first I remember seeing when I joined WP.
You're "part of the furniture" now! (joke; obviously, I hope)

I never assumed Joe was your real name. I thought it could have been more likely, but I never outright thought that was the case.

It's not idiocy to think that one's username is their real name, but if one has a problem with a username then they should think about it first before opening their mouth and attacking that person.

My motto is "it's not what you say, it's how you say it". So if a member said to me that they thought my name was really Joe or Josie, I wouldn't get offended or think that person is stupid.

I hope I'm part of the furniture, I've been here 11 years now!

The first time I saw it my assumption was that it was a reference to the 1960's Gerry Anderson TV programme.

Whenever I see it, the theme tune pops into my head and makes me smile.

It has good connotations for me, so I like it.

Sorry to hear about the behaviour of some others.
