Obviously, a meeting is much simpler when the agenda is a suggested topic plus any current member's crisis. However, there are always people who love to talk, and others who will never interrupt. The chair has to balance those out.

Personally, I am a difficult person to place in any specific groups.

I most often find myself exercising that "neutrality of sorts" in most (small) group settings.

I strongly feel that groups orientated around concrete activities encouraging participation, such as the arts might just "break the ice!"

All my life, or at least since I started noticing such things. I've always felt "outside looking in." Easily 30+ years before I even had any suspicion about autism, the world seemed like a glass room where I couldn't find the entrance, like an aquarium, like some sort of interactive tv show. Still does, really.
