Yay lots of horror fans, almost every book I read and film I watch is horror and has been since I was a kid. I also love body piercing and the Wainwright mountains.

Gothic literature, literary biographies, ghost stories, supernatural, cemeteries, churches, ancestry, genealogy, photographs, vintage and antique picture frames, wallpaper, cat care, ragdolls (the dolls, not the cats), and egg cups.

Then I also cycle through mini-obsessions with online research of whatever strikes my fancy for a thousand hours or so, at a time. Some of it is pretty intense. Past topics have included The Holocaust, and school shootings such as Columbine.

I'm into drama TV shows and social stuff like friendships and gossip...which isn't very Aspie-like.

Actually I don't really have any special interests or obsessions.

My biggest interests are fantasy (mainly novels and video games), history (more into modern history now but I've had phases for different eras), philosophy (especially as it relates to religion and politics but also metaphysics and epistemology in general, including whether we can know if we live in a simulation :P ), and music (mainly metal).

I like horror too and a lot of the grimdark, weird fiction, and dark fantasy I read can blur the line between fantasy and horror. I'm currently reading a vampire novel from Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin called Fevre Dream.

I am very interested in how to reduce world-wide problems. I'm puzzled that this is pretty weird, given the news these days.

I am very interested in the debloat of the World Wide Web, and how to create the most anonymity on the internet.

I actually like reading about horror movies, video essays, cute things, video game lore, and plushies. And trains.

My interests can change around even though they can have a very intense quality to them. Over the years I have been into (in chronological order and from memory):

Before age 8:

Bank Forms Ie paying in slips, withdrawal slips, applications forms etc (used to collect them from the bank when we went there).
Horses
Scooby Doo

Age 8 onwards:

Madonna
Dancing

Age 20 plus:

Madonna
Dancing
Nutrition and physical and mental health
Biology
Psychology
Sometimes Sociology
Movies

Age 25 plus:

Madonna
Movies
Dancing
Nutrition and physical and mental health
Biology
Psychology
Cross Stitching
Jigsaw puzzles

Age 30 plus

Dancing
Paleolithic nutrition and health

Age 35 plus:

Paleolithic nutrition and health

They used to cycle around Ie I would get really into one thing for a while, then drop it and get into one of my other favourites...I was never into them all at the same time but it seems they have become more restricted with age.

My biggest interest has always been a generalized interest in animals. Though mammals are definitely the group I’m most interested in. I can tell you a lot more about mammal taxonomy than bird taxonomy, for example.

A milder interest of mine is animated movies, which I seem to get invested in more easily than live-action ones. I know a fair amount of Disney trivia for example. On the topic of movies, I went through a phase where I became kind of obsessed with bad movies (thanks to the Awful Movies Wiki) and watched a new one every Sunday.

Shows that have a more grounded tone with realistic characters and situations seem to be better at holding my interests than ones that are more fantastical. For example, most sci-fi, fantasy, superhero films fall outside the realm of what I’m interested in watching. But I enjoy a lot of sitcoms and movies that have a more realistic tone, with relatable characters in relatable situations.

Back to the topic of weird specialist interests though, I’ll admit I had a strange obsession with flatulence humor when I was 12-13 years old, which as you can imagine got old for those around me. An obsession with Shrek (and sometimes Harambe) memes manifested similarly when I was 14 years of age. The three things discussed in this last paragraph probably stand out as my weirdest (and most obnoxious)!specialized interests.

They can experience disease. -though that's a great question, because having multiple queens tends to evolve in places where ant density is low (lower disease transmissibility) and harsh climatic conditions are stronger selective pressures than either disease or inter-colony competition. So basically yes they could, but no they don't tend to as often because of the environments they live in.

This is my biggest interest, too. :D Plants also, so kind of organisms in general. But I do know the most about mammals, and apes/primates specifically.

I also get short term "mini" special interests where I binge a bunch of research about different plants, animals, etc. Being interested in animals/organisms is very fun as you can observe them right in your backyard, and there is no limit to the amount of information you can acquire on them.

I like black metal too, but grindcore songs are more suitable for my limited attention span.
