Hi, community,
Does anybody here know well-done blogs on neurodiverse topics? There are a couple of blog lists out there if you ask a search engine. But many of them were just started, have two or three posts and were abandoned after some time.

If you could post here your favourite blogs, that would be great!

Maybe someone knows additionally websites of persons that write about their personal experiences. (Like the first one, https://musingsofanaspie.com/) Websites of organisations are also interesting, but personal sites are harder to find. Unfortunately, most of them give up after publishing two or three articles.

http://www.thinkingautismguide.com/ is one of the worst sites out there.

Their mission is to be a "a one-stop source for carefully curated, evidence-based, neurodiversity-steeped information from autistic people, parents, and autism professionals" but they actually care more about ideology than facts.

For example:
They tweeted out a link to an article on Spectrum (https://twitter.com/thinkingautism/status/1106571342386618368) with the claim that autistic women are 3X as likely as autistic men to try to end their lives. But when I pointed out that there was no basis to that claim they just blocked me instead.

What was the exact wording of your tweet?

It might have been best to say something like "Typo here? The linked article says autistic women are 3X as likely as non-autistic women (NOT autistic men) to try to end their lives."

If, instead, you said, "There is no basis for this claim," then the person you were replying to might have jumped to the conclusion that you were simply ignoring the fact that she was citing a well-respected scientific news source, which in turn cited an academic paper.

The article used to say: "Autistic women like me are five times as likely as non-autistic women—and 3X as likely as #autistic men—to try to end their lives."

After I told Spectrum about the mistake, they edited the article.

Thinking Person's Guide to Autism and Sara Luterman (author of the article) are clearly wrong here.

Anyway, there is something really wrong with a site that claims to be rational and evidence based but blocks people for fact checking them.

Thanks for telling me about the change to the Spectrum News article. At least they corrected the error, as any reasonable science news publication would.

For clarity, it might have been better if you had asked your question about the 3X statistic first, rather than buried after after the details. Your wording above could have confused some people (especially people with some kinds of attention difficulties), because your main point isn't immediately obvious. But, be that as it may ....


You don't know why she blocked you. For all you know, she might have clicked on your name and then seen some other tweet of yours that offended her. Who knows? Also, had you ever had any other interactions with her on Twitter (or elsewhere) in the past?

The rational thing to do even if some of my other tweets were offensive would be to check their claim against the evidence I presented anyway. Offensive people can be factually correct about some things too.
