Ask questions instead of arguments. Phrasing it that way and asking them to explain their point of view will be better received than just saying "you're wrong because X Y and Z".

1st. I'd only argue with someone if I have a good understanding of the topic, and fully understand the person's viewpoint. But first I'd ask them to clarify what they mean, what reasons they have to support their view, so I get where they're coming from and there's no misunderstanding.

2nd. See their reaction. If they're interested in having a discussion, have it. But if they feel uncomfortable, I'd stop arguing and move onto another topic.

3rd. Keep your self-interest in mind. You benefit nothing from beating them in an argument, and it's negative value if your argument makes them upset or uncomfortable. This means sometimes putting your ego aside and letting them have their opinion even if you think it's wrong.
