Quote:
Critical race theory in national curriculum promotes 'victim' narrative among indigenous
04/05/2021|9min

Indigenous leader Warren Mundine says we should be telling all kids - no matter who they are - they have the "opportunities" in life to get wherever they want to and should not be categorised as either an "evil" person or "victim".

"We should be telling all kids - no matter who they are - the world's their oyster there's massive opportunities out there to do. Get out there get educated and work hard and you will get to the place that you want to get to," he said.

"We've got aboriginal doctors now, aboriginal lawyers, aboriginal engineers - we've got all these incredible people and yet - academia in the schooling system is telling them that their victims and no matter what they do in life they'll continue to be victims. it's craziness."

All critical race theory is, is the acknowledgement that race is a social construct. As opposed to an essential part of someone's biology, like a "race realist" would tell you. And a recognition/critique of racism in societal institutions. It is not about any individual being a victim. Just like how recognizing that autism disadvantages you in an NT society doesn't mean that you have to live with a victim mentality.

Legitimate history studies and teaches what had actually happened in the past, and why. It isn't for encouraging people to believe that their country is the best by beating the propaganda drum, or blameless by ignoring unpopular or shameful facts.

I can agree with you in theory but what is really going to happen is that students are going to take this as a license to hate other persons and institutions that had nothing to do with what happened 200+ years ago. Those promoting CRT know this and that is their goal.

If you promote a doctrine of hereditary guilt you may have a point. However, as a society we don't do that because It leaves out any personal accountabity by the "perps" or "victims".

How exactly is pointing out that some people benefited from systemic racism while others suffered because of it promoting a doctrine of hereditary guilt?

Are people not allowed to speak the truth if it conflicts with your ideological preferences?

No one is stopping you from speaking truth.  Heck, he is probably just telling those lies to trigger you into speaking truth!

By removing important context CRT is just a device to stoke grievance and pit one group against another. Its being touted by the usual suspects who are know for such.
It would be better to approach the subject from the standpoint that No racial group on Earth has been untouched by slavery but it is presented as peculiar to white America. We should teach that this is a great moral evil that we need to make sure never happens again.

Besides the underlined dog whistle, can you substantiate this claim?

How would the entire history of slavery be relevant to an American history course? Of course American history courses are going to focus on the context of America.
