Agate would be a good focus as it comes in so many different colours and patterns.
I found stones as a kid a lot, but not really looked as an adult.
Feels better to find than to buy in the store tho.

That poppy jasper is lovely...really pretty, Not seen that here, now I am gonna have to look around, lol.
I just bid on an ametrine cluster on ebay which looks very nice and is one I have wanted. Blend of amethyst and citrine of course.
I am afraid I tend to like the shiny, colourful ones the best :P
Gonna bed now anyways...shall get some more stones tomorrow and let you know what I chose.

thanks normally its called ocean jasper but since it has round circular "spheres" its called poppy. its only found in a few places in the world, Madagascar is one of them.

Holy schist!! !! I just found this thread!

richardbenson, very nice collection, especially the kyanite!

We just had a cement driveway put in but the workers filled in the edges with some very rocky soil. Guess what I've been doing off and on over the last 6 weeks?

I'm rather fond of hæmatite. And anything green or mottled :) I don't collect them, though. I was enjoying richardbenson's pics; it's a pity he's left the forums.

Well, my friend who runs the local gem shop gave me some bits of amethyst and fluorite, and I bought a nebular stone, a seer stone and another one I don't know the name of, plus I have put aside some beautiful picture stone jasper and some other bits and pieces including 2 pieces of sugilite. :) No point taking photos of my stones tho since Richard isn't gonna be here to see them.

They are teeth I've collected. They're not quite as big as the photos suggest, though. They're only a few millimetres across, but around this part of the UK that's all you're likely to get. Having said that, there's one species that has relatively large and nicely shaped teeth, but I've not found a whole one yet, and they're not too common.

Down on the south coast, in younger rock, you get larger specimens:

I love crystals but my collection is very meagre compared to richards, i dont have anything big , mostly tumblestones from the local shop which has now closed. My favourites are laboradite , flourite and selenite , i have a piece of blue sunstone which is nice and some various greeny stones which i have forgotten the name of at the moment . i think i have 30 different types of crystal but all small.
