Marjorie Taylor Greene compares House mask mandates to the Holocaust

Quote:
Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, during an interview on a conservative podcast this week, compared House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's decision to continue to require members of the House to wear masks on the chamber floor to steps the Nazis took to control the Jewish population during the Holocaust.

Greene, in a conversation with the Christian Broadcasting Network's David Brody Real America's Voice TV show "The Water Cooler," attacked Pelosi and accused her of being a hypocrite for asking GOP members to prove they have all been vaccinated before allowing members to be in the House chamber without a mask.
"You know, we can look back at a time in history where people were told to wear a gold star, and they were definitely treated like second class citizens, so much so that they were put in trains and taken to gas chambers in Nazi Germany," Greene said. "And this is exactly the type of abuse that Nancy Pelosi is talking about."

Jewish groups were quick to condemn Greene's remarks.

Marjorie Taylor Greene offends ME, just by being alive.

Let's hope her political "career" lasts as long as Sarah Palin's.

Not misogynistic. I have nothing against women in politics. Just unqualified women.

GOP lines up to blast Marjorie Taylor Greene's comparison between mask wearing, Holocaust

Quote:
One of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's fellow Republican congressmen denounced her recent comments comparing mask wearing to the Holocaust, saying the Georgia representative's statements were "beyond reprehensible."

Rep. Peter Meijer, R-Mich., made the comments during an interview with Dana Bash on CNN's "State of the Union" Sunday.

"Well, first off, any comparisons to the Holocaust it's beyond reprehensible," he said. "I don't even have words to describe how disappointing it is to see this hyperbolic speech that, frankly amps up and plays into a lot of the anti-Semitism that we've been seeing in our society today. Vicious attacks on the streets of New York and in Los Angeles."

Other Republicans in both houses of Congress also lined up over the weekend to denounce their colleague for the hyperbolic statement. Rep. Liz Cheney, who was recently ousted from her GOP leadership role for contesting former President Donald Trump's false claims of election fraud, tweeted "This is evil lunacy."

Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Illinois, also tweeted his denunciation of Greene's comments: "Absolute sickness."

The GOP need to clear out the MAGAs like MTG in a "night of the long knives"

If her constituents aren't outraged enough to remove this lunatic from office, then they are truly outside not just mainstream American society, but decent society in general.

Her district is considered “safe R”, so whoever wins the primary becomes the next representative.

But in the South, the one who mentions “Gawd(TM)”, and crows about the “gun-grabbing, tree-hugging baby killers” the most often is the one who gets elected.

Outrage over offending Jews seems to be conditional to which party one is a member of.
Why isn't Ilhan Omar's anti Jewish tweets, while suppressed by Google are widely known.

Aren't Omar's tweets critical of Israeli policy? That isn't necessarily Anti-Semitic. Greene, on the other hand, said something completely idiotic comparing mask wearing - a health measure - to wearing a gold star in order to make Jews singled out at one time. And no, wearing a mask isn't singling out anyone.

Getting Marjorie Taylor Greene's tweets sounds like the pinnacle of self-abuse, masochism, whatever.

I take care of my sanity by keeping a very salubrious distance away from Marjorie Taylor Greene's IN-sanity.

Supposing that's correct, how is bringing that up no more than what-about-ism?

Well, if those Trump supporters didn't fly Swastika and Confederate flags, didn't attack the notion that black lives matter, wear "Camp Auschwitz staff" shirts, etc., then they wouldn't be associated with Nazis.

Saw plenty of MAGAs at the capitol riots flying confederate flags
