A 5th grade New Jersey principal and teacher required his students to make a report on Adolf Hitler's accomplishments.

He has been put on paid leave while administrators investigate.

Some of Hitler's accomplishments
1. He united German and Austrian people.
2. Leader of the NAZI party.
3. He became German Chancellor and assumed the title of "Fuhrer".
4. He was very popular among his people.
5. His belief in antisemitism lead him to kill more than 6 million Jewish people.

Did the kid write this as an "accomplishment" or was it the teacher?

The kid
Student's report on Hitler's 'accomplishments' was displayed in an elementary school for weeks, parent says

Quote:
The fifth grade assignment included the student dressing as Hitler, according to the parent of another student whose account was shared online.

The student.

Also, "the student at Maugham Elementary School dressed as the Nazi dictator while reading out his handwritten report that was titled, "Accomplishments,"

So the Jewish teacher gave this assignment to a student? Strange.

This came off as malicious compliance to me. The 5th grader was given this disturbed assignment so he decided to say what he actually accomplished knowing full well that is not what the teacher meant. I just thought the teacher was a Holocaust denier and the kid sure showed her.

It would be a considerable expectation for a 5th grade child to understand the gravity of what they were doing.

Some irony though, illustrates quite accurately how offensive attitudes toward other so called out-groups are normalised at a young age, parents (rather than teachers) are the biggest culprits.
