Actually, you are one of those people I mentioned who habitually use empty praises and sugary platitudes like, "Oh, don't worry so much. You're a nice guy. I'm sure everyone likes you and wants to see you do well, so cheer up and have a nice day..."

I never claimed to be a great advice-giver, or a guru, or whatever.

I just give advice based on my experience.

This is turning into the Fnord thread. Possible to change the name now?

Kraftiekortie, you're all right with me even if our styles are different. Sometimes a user needs a dose of KK, other times a user needs a dose of Bea.

No need, since Fnord started this thread.

And sometimes they need someone to go all-out Fnord on them, but that might get Fnord banned instead.

I try to be mindful of this and save my pragmatic advice for those who might be in a state where they'll make use of it. Sometimes the person is in too much pain for rational approaches to be viable and in those cases the first priority should be soothing them enough to get them back to being capable of considering rational and pragmatic approaches.

Sometimes it just means admitting vulnerability before giving the pragmatic advice, sometimes it's not bothering with it for the moment.

This thread started out strong, but devolved into a love-fest.

Aspies, especially, should be concerned how others perceive them for their own safety. We're usually on the outs socially. When we talked about scapegoating in other threads, it's important to remember that if someone with great power or social influence is against us, other NTs will join in, as it's part of their hierarchical mindset.

I would suggest Aspies be vigilant. This isn't the same as one person disliking your opinion; there can be pervasive ostracizing when the mob doesn't think highly of you. I'm not saying appease the mob, I'm saying don't be too socially naive about what the group thinks of you.

And let's not be naive about what we think of the group, either :)

I'm terrible at giving advice, so, I try to keep my mouth shut.

Actually, you are one of the people whose advice hits the nail on the head. I always look to see what you wrote.
