Back in 2005, a group of autistic volunteers founded Autistic Pride Day, a day in which autistics go out to parks, meet each other and celebrate the Autistic Culture. The date was set to 18 June, which was one of the founders birthday.

Since then, every June, groups of autistic volunteers organize Autistic Pride Day events in various parks around the world. Annual events take place in London, Berlin, Helsinki, Tel Aviv, and other cities around the world. Due to technical considerations, the events don't necessarily take place on 18 June, but usually take place around that date.

In recent years, some Autistic Pride Day event organizers founded the Autistic Pride Alliance, which coordinates between events around the world. Last year, due to covid-19, it was impossible to hold public meetings. Therefore, an Autistic Pride Day event took place online. It can still be watched here:

This year, Autistic Pride Day events will take place in some countries once again, but there will still be an online event - on 19 June. All of the details are in this Facebook post:

I think you can read the Facebook post even if you don't have a Facebook account. Grab your FREE ticket here:

See you on 19 June :D

This is the link for the online Autistic Pride Day 2021 event. Nothing to see now, but there will be on 19 June:

Most likely no, but I wish goodwill to all who "attend."

Given that June is Pride Month, where the word "Pride" has been co-opted by the gay rights movement, I read the title of this thread and thought, "Is this for gay autistics?"

I don't think that's what is meant, but I'm still not sure. Seems like a better time for Autism Pride Day would be in April - or really, any month besides June. Maybe it's too late to change it, but communication is best when it doesn't lead to hesitation and confusion.

It doesn't sound like my kind of thing, but good luck to anybody who wants to take part or watch it. I'm reluctant to risk putting a damper on it by writing here about why I don't go for pride events.

The event is taking place right now, and will continue for the next three hours. The current presenters are members of the Aucademy group of autistic educators:

Thank you.
Attending an online event is different from attending an event in a venue, so it makes sense to add quote marks.

It was a nice event, but very long. I watched it on and off throughout the day.

Will any similar "events" happen later this year?

Yes.
Autscape, the autistics' conference, will take place via an online video conference from 23 July until 27 July.
The program is yet to be published, but it should be similar to last year's program, which can be seen here:

There will also be a "Neuro Pride" event from 2 August to 8 August, organized by a new group called "Neuro Pride Ireland":

I don't know who Neuro Pride Ireland are, but I see that they will be talking at Autscape next Saturday at 8pm (UK time):
