Naftali Bennett has ‘a lot on his plate’ after being sworn in as Israeli PM

Naftali Bennett will have “a lot on his plate” after being sworn in as Israeli prime minister – bringing an end to Benjamin Netanyahu's 12-year reign, according to CNN reporter Oren Liebermann.

Mr Bennett was installed after Israeli politicians approved a vote to form an opposition-led government which will see him hold office until September 2023.

He will then hand over the reins to the Yesh Atid party.

“Now that mission is accomplished, the mission of putting together a government, winning an election, now comes the hard part,” Mr Liebermann said.

“He faces new challenges ahead, not only the challenges of what to do with Gaza, for example, and the Palestinians in the West Bank, but he needs to pass a budget. He needs to work on issues of state and religion.

“There is a lot on his plate, and it is all very difficult to deal with.

“He has a very narrow government here. In fact, his government was sworn in at a vote of 60 to 59”.
