Does acid reflux come from your digestion system?

Any factors that lead to relaxation of esophageal sphincter. Digestion system is one of them.

The most common culprit - carbonated drinks. CO2 relaxes sphincter and at the same time creates pressure pushing stomach contents up.

And many medications, like sedatives and antidepressants lead to relaxation of this sphincter as side effect.

Acid reflux is the burning sensation caused by the contents of your stomach coming up into the oesophagus.

Certain things can make symptoms worse. It is also not a benign condition, acid reflux may cause some forms of oesophageal cancer. If you have symptoms it's best to speak with your doctor.

Interesting. I bet the antidepressants loosen the "other" sphincter too, which explains why I pass gas so easily
