I made a thread in the PPR section of Wrongplanet satirizing how Sylvester Stallone's "Rocky 4" depicted Rocky as ending the Cold War. My joke thread backfired and many didnt get the satirical intent. When I made the exact same thread on Bodybuilding forums everyone loved it and people thought it was hilarious

How does a person have humor on WP given that Aspies struggle with sarcasm and figurative language while my humor can be really sarcastic and ironic? I dont know how to be as funny here as I am on Bodybuilding forums

I've never seen Rocky and I didn't see your post. But I don't think there's any special type of humour that is more popular than any other. I tend to be self-deprecating and I like dark / sardonic humour or witty word play. I'm not represenative of everyone though. I'm sure there are lots of people here who know Rocky and just about any niche topic you can imagine.

It's probably because you posted it in PPR where everything is taken too seriously and everybody takes offense to everything. If you had posted the same in random discussion you probably would have got better results. Never post in PPR. It's a dangerous corner of WP.

I think it's more about Internet than autism.
On the Internet, jokes that can be mistaken for seriousness will be mistaken for seriousness by some.

I'm not a person who really likes "sardonic" humor----but I accept it as something that's inevitable, owing to what may be termed "the conditions of life."

Most (almost all) people I meet like "Seinfeld." I find it to be obnoxious.

Humor that does not involve lying and "clickbait" subject lines.

But without clickbait we wouldnt have 99% of entertainment journalism

Consider me an aspiring journalist for the Daily Mail and you can forgive this 1 inconvenience as a little training for a future career

I can't stand Seinfeld. They all seemed like entitled, whiney, self-centred jerks.

I loved Diane Chambers on Cheers.

My main type of humor is actually really sarcastic, but I don't use it on here because there are people who don't get those things and their first reactions are to get upset + more upset if you say you were joking.

I can't believe the Daily Mail actually has a TV program here in the US.

I probably stand out as an Aspie or whatever because I don't share the humor of most people.

There's this other thing that people seem to like a lot. A guy named Larry David is the star of it. I can't stand it. It reminds me of Seinfeld in that it's almost like it's "required" to like this in order to be credible in many people's eyes.

If Al-Jazeera can broadcast in the US, then so can the Daily Mail.

By the way, The Daily Mail website is disallowed as reliable material for Wikipedia citations.

Ah, Fox News has a TV program in America so it shouldnt be surprising that sensational yellow journalism is allowed here in our country.

I always say that the Daily Mail is a good newspaper. Because, as they say, "No news is good news," and there's no actual news in it.

Al Jazeera is much more credible than the Daily Mail (obviously).

The Daily Mail doesn't broadcast NEWS. It broadcasts gossip.

In my experience humor can be hard to follow in the written word for a great deal of people. Especially if it is subtle in nature.
