Hi,
I live near Oak Ridge National Library, and pre-Covid they had a program that sought out Aspies since we have a good mindset for certain types of work. Has anyone heard of any other programs like this?

I'm a computer programmer, and plan to work the rest of my career remotely, as it just makes so much sense. I've always had issues with saying the wrong joke, or making light of a serious situation, failure to read social cues, etc.

If anyone has heard of ANY programs, anywhere where they'd allow us to work remotely 100%, I'd appreciate you letting us know about it.

Thanks.

I was working for about eight years, but Long Haul COVID kind of took that away from me.
Wouldn't mind working from home, but I'm not sure what I'd be able to do.

Here is an article from 2020

https://www.verywellhealth.com/top-auti ... rs-4159784

[ . . . ]

1) Microsoft

Microsoft's dedicated Autism Hiring Program offers job recruitment and career development strategies related to diversity and inclusion.4

Inspired by an employee with an autistic son, the program includes a multi-day hands-on academy that focuses on job capabilities, team projects, and skills assessment.

The non-traditional hiring event gives candidates a chance to reveal their talents and meet hiring managers and teams while learning about Microsoft and its opportunities.

Microsoft notes that people with autism have succeeded in multiple full- and part-time employment roles, including software engineers and data scientists.5
2) SAP

SAP is a very large tech firm based in Germany but with offices located around the world. The company has a strong diversity program which includes "Autism at Work."

SAP's groundbreaking Autism at Work program launched in 2013, and integrates adults with autism into the workforce. Currently, more than 175 SAP colleagues are employed via the Autism at Work program.6

[ . . . ]

Autism-Focused Businesses

More young adults with autism are finishing school and struggling to enter the workforce.13 At the same time, more businesses are discovering the benefits of hiring autistic employees. These two factors, together, are spurring the growth of small businesses built around the strengths of autistic workers.

A few of these businesses in the United States include:

Rising Tide Car Wash
Ultranauts (software testing)
Spectrum Designs (t-shirts)
SMILE Biscotti

[ . . . ]

my employer unofficially seems to support neurodiverse individuals, but ones who can do the job, fake it and fit in.
