Seems utterly ridiculous from my international perspective about 10 miles North of the American border.

Over and over all week/month on nearly every right leaning internet media broadcast hosts are blaming "the Biden regime," for inflation on all sorts of goods/services (couldn't have anything to do with years of Republican money printing OR the pandemic..?? LOL) and especially pump prices of regular gasoline. They're shouting about $3/gallon gas being the end of the world and Biden needing to be stopped because he's destroying America blah blah blah.

Gas prices aren't controlled by the POTUS. It's mostly just supply and demand, and how much some Billionaire's club feels like jacking the prices just for shiggles. Prices can be affected by new taxes by state/local/federal gov'ts, though.

Nonetheless, these people are screaming that the sky is falling because regular gas is $3usd/us gallon in some places.. Heaven's no!! !

Meanwhile, 10 miles North of the border, know what I pay for 94 octane in my motorwheelie? $1.989. (Canadian dollars per Litre). Know what that is per US gallon? $7.53. And in US dollars? $6.05. (but we don't get paid in US dollars, so currency conversion is kind of moot IMO) And right wing American media is losing their collective minds over half price gas!!

It's just so NUTS to me how easily wound up Americans are about n o t h i n g. They have incredibly low prices for all kinds of things, including gasoline, yet their politicians and the propaganda machine that masquerades as news media are able to get them all wound up twisted in knots like pretzels over the complete non-issue of having half price gasoline. BIZARRE!

If only there were an entire rest of the world Americans could turn to for knowledge and a broader perspective of life, finances, economics, politics and media.. :chin:

There's nuts here who try to blame gas prices on Trudeau too. It's especially sad when they don't drive, have nothing informing their arguments and really just want another excuse for hating the bobblehead.

Yeah, wtf? There’s way better reasons not to like Trudeau than that!

Yeah, I don't much care for him but most of the people who are most vocal seem to either be really uninformed or have really skewed priorities (like complaining endlessly about immigration or damn injuns want their treaty rights respected). I'm so glad I don't work with those sorts of people anymore.

It was $3.59 in St. Regis, Montana when I had to stop for gas.

Gas prices have always gone up and back down. Nothing to do with Biden or Trump. But I remember people were blaming it on Bush too when he was in office.

And are people complaining about gas prices being high? Or blaming Biden? Or is all of that just attempts to distract by the right wing media grasping at straws for something to blame Biden for and no one filling their cars is actually complaining about the price of gas?

Gas averages about $4.30 a gallon in California. We’re averaging about $3.15 in the US.

BC averages about C$1.60 per litre. Canada as a whole, around C$1.35.

All this is “regular” gas.

Canada’s gas is always more expensive than in the US.

Goldfish is paying a very high price. Probably premium gas.

Even regular 87 octane is 1.69 locally.

Yes, premium - like I said, 94 octane. Afaik, most motorcycles are designed to take premium fuel. Because of the price difference between 87 and 94, it costs Almost as much for gas in my motorcycle as my car. *shrug* Oh well - is what it is. VRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!! 8)

EVERYTHING seems to be a political talking point.

My neighbor is undergoing chemo, so his immune system is compromised.  He wears a mask to avoid getting sick, even at home.  The neighbor across the street yelled at him for being a leftistliberalsocialistcommiepinkowierdo.

I recently wore plain gray shorts and a plain yellow tee-shirt on a trip to the store on a hot day.  Another customer was upset with the way I looked "suggested" that I take my "rightwingqannonmaganazi" beliefs someplace else.

The all time record high was back in 2008, national average was over $4/gallon

Plus this year, you also had the Colonial Pipeline hack, and next month, we have to see how the changing of the guard in Iran affects prices.

Much of the long-term reason, since 2005, for the general oil price hikes were sky-high demand in China and India (originally), and diplomatic standoffs with Iran (and to a lesser extent, Venezuela).

A litre is ....about a quart????

So I should multiply your prices by four (because there are four quarts to a gallon) to get the American equivalent?

So regular gas in Canada is four times 1.69. Or 6.76 Canadian dollars a gallon?

Next question. What is the ratio in value between a Canadian dollar and a US dollar?

I assume that they are not exactly the same.

But I agree. Blaming Trump, or Biden, for high gas prices is kinda like a governor of California taking credit for having fewer earthquakes than his predecessor.

1L *3.785 = 1 US gallon

xe.com for currency exchange rate.

1.989/L = 7.53cdn/US gallon

So Canadians are paying about seven-fifty a gallon for gas?!?!?!?!?!

So what do we Americans (even Californians) have to complain about?

It's really weird that gas prices went way below $2 a gallon last year when nobody was driving anywhere, and now that everything is opening up and people are driving all over, gas prices are closer to $3!!

Clearly this is all Biden's fault. THANKS FOR VACCINATING PEOPLE AND GETTING THE ECONOMY TO OPEN BACK UP, LOSER!
