In Switzerland, you can't name your kid any weird thing you want. If it's not on the approved list, it's illegal.

I pretty much agree. However, you could make an argument that it protects children from peer abuse.

I can't stand when people name their kids such stupid or hideous names. It seems to be becoming common here in the UK too. If me and my boyfriend ever have a baby we will call it a normal name like James or Lucy.

Someone I know called their baby girl a made-up name that a child would call their doll or something, and it's so difficult to spell or to pronounce. Just why cause so much confusion for teachers when they start school?
