Instead of waiting for ALex or somebody to do something about it, there are two other ways to fix it:

1) Watch your language

2) instead of typing out the full word, just type a "b" + "****" like b****.

Actually there is a way around the censor... you can put a tag in the middle of a word like bi [i.][/i] tch and it comes out. Not that I would though!

Yeah but that would be classed as censor bypassing/rule breaking.

Thanks for fixing it, I know that you can do it that way, Sean, but I guess I'm just obsessive compulsive.

Why do you bleep that word anyway? It means a female dog! And the dictionaries I've read don't define it as swearing.

Because regardless of what the dictionary says, in some parts of the english speakng world it can also be used as a vulgar insult.

Don't forget, we do have minors as young as 10 or 11 who visit us. I can't speak to their personal taste, but I don't think it's a good idea for them to be around that kind of language at that age, even on the internet. And we do try to keep it "family" and make sure all visitors feel welcome. Sure, you may get tired of the PC vibe and preach about freedom of expression (hey, I can cuss with the best of 'em), but I support WrongPlanet's efforts to make this a safe site for everyone.

But it's just that this goes even further than a lot of other sites on the net.. oh well.

The chatroom certainly has no shortage of cursing.

How about "f****d"? I typed the f-word there with "ed" at the end; could we possibly make it say f****d? ((Not that it's a great word to use but still. Plus I know that this place will filter it out for me.))

I just want to see how the filters work. :P :P

EDIT: I'm sort of surprised that nothing got filtered out automatically.
