This is a grotesque topic of celebrating someone's death.

Beats celebrating their life of hate.

I have no problem with anyone who feels morally correct in celebrating someone's death. However, I was not afforded that right by certain members on this board when George H.W. Bush passed away. I still make no apologies for my condemnation of a war criminal.

Since then. there have been mutiple celebratory threads of this sort: Rush Limbaugh, Donald Rumsfeld, a Coche brother...

Such hypocrisy!

How is it hypocrisy to hate on those who are almost universally hated and call for respect for those who aren’t? Seems pretty consistent.

There's pretty good reasons to scorn Aich-dub too. He was part of the same neo-con swamp as Rummy, Cheney and Wolfowitz. VegetableMan is being consistent here.

Don't celebrate too quick. He might have left charitable trusts in his will that will fund these organizations in perpetuity.

Fair. I guess I’m just not old enough to know why he was an as*hole.

Scorch away, veggie!

Because I have a right to my opinion on any given political figure and you have yours. I don't care about popular opinion.

Well, then, I'll quote the late Betty Davis: "They say you should only say good things about the dead. He's dead - - good."

Fair enough, I know about them because I was a fan of war as a child because I didn't understand what it represented.

Once I understood I was already familiar with the rogue gallery of Cold War era war criminals.

That's optimistic, especially since he probably went to hell.
