Why?

Ive plowed through most of the article and I cant find their reason for doing this.

Why would going to the trouble of building capital intensive green houses...under the ocean...for the purpose of growing LAND plants...possibly solve any world problem?

While we are at it...why dont we... capture some live tunas...dress them up in reverse diving suits (so that they can remain contained in sea water on land), and start grazing them in herds on Montana ranches? Git along little doogie!

Makes as much sense.

There's only enough room for a dozen strawberry plants, seems like an awfully expensive venture.

It’s in the event that conditions on land are no longer favorable for growing food.
Drought, wildfire etc
