Are there actually people left in the U S. who don't know this stuff?

Some deny it.

If people deny something that's staring them in the face---that's their problem.

The same thing is happening with Trump. His crimes are obvious---yet there are many people who are confirming the notion that "love is blind."

I just don't want people picking cherries and then leaving the discussion filled with only half-truths.

Most Americans are aware of the US's interventionism abroad, but there are big gaps in their knowledge. Any American can tell you about US intervention in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Not as many could tell you about 200 years of US intervention in Latin America and the Caribbean.

And that's not even including all the meddling the CIA has done in worldwide politics.
Remember when the CIA helped oust Australian prime minister Gough Whitlam back in 1975? America sure doesn't want Australia to remember that little incident. That's what you get when you don't bow to US foreign policy!

Remember kids:
America loves democracy abroad, as long as elected regimes are no further left than center-left.

Oi!

The worst form of imperialism is when Americans try to take credit for British achiements.

My understanding was it was a joint CIA/MI6 thing.
The UK wasn't about to tolerate their colony thinking and acting for itself. And the US wasn't about to let their most reliable ally in the region do anything except support them unconditionally.

Does that name rhyme with cough?
