Don't you find it curious that it was the sexual organ they decided will be the mark of "God"? Perverts made it up.

We recently had a political proposal in Denmark to raise the legal age of male circumcision to 18, so people - and not their parents - could decide on their own if they wanted to get circumcised.

Polls showed that 73 % of the Danish population was in favour of the age requirement (and less than 10 % were against), but the government ended up refusing the proposal anyway.

It turned out that the government had been heavily lobbied (and perhaps even threatened with repercussions) by the US and Israel to reject the proposal.

Yes thats because you cant submit minority, or shouldn't in general. Theyre still people with rights. But this is a case that actually affects a lot of children. Maybe though they dont think it's negative enough to the people. But Genital Mutilation on religious tribal tradition grounds is discouraged and warned against by the US in Africa. I suppose they opt for an educational approach.

I'm against GM and tradition as the truth. It's much more modern to have an uncut child, anyway.

Interesting how this would impact the population of teens in Denmark, as I understand that in many Western cultures a significant amount of young people have their first sexual experiences before the age of 18... So this change may significantly impact those first experiences, and may have many consequences for the young partners in regards to the perception of the quality of sex. Would be interesting to see how the "uncut" generation would turn out.

I'm sure that counted for something in the ancient world and was a requirement for Hebrew men. Christians believe that God sets us apart and establishes our identity, not our genetics, and the religious purpose of circumcision only applied to them rather than everyone. Circumcision is not unique to them and doubtfully even began with them, but it is definitely indicated as what God intended for his chosen people.

I like the idea of bearing a mark as being set aside from birth for a special purpose. My dad was trimmed, I was trimmed, and now both of my sons are trimmed. Besides that, it keeps you neat and clean and slightly reduces sensitivity. That means less dirt and bacteria and more stamina. And THAT means a more satisfied woman.

Religious or not, getting snipped is good for everyone. A trimmed p***s is a happy p***s.

I have a suspicion the foreskin is there for good reason. Natural selection - it serves some purpose.

Do you have any evidence to back up your claims? For example I'd argue the foreskin rolled back actually blocks some sensation for the man but increases it for the woman. We're then naturally ribbed for extra pleasure.

Whatever the ins and outs of it (ha ha!) the primary thing here is, circumcision should be the choice of the individual in possession of the penis, and no body else.

It's a form of mutilation otherwise, and is now being called that when practiced on women. FGM - female genetic mutilation. In my view the same standard should apply for men. If you want to modify yourself, that's your choice, but nobody else should ever be able to insist upon it.

If it didn't serve some purpose God wouldn't have put it there.

But when it's the full generation, I wonder how it would transform the sex landscape/culture in the country. My understanding the Dutch are very casual about it...

Pretty sure it's mostly to appease the porn industry who's customer base has a preference for circumcised dicks.

Only about one in three primary schools are religious schools, which is still too high but it’s not the most common experience. I went to a C of E primary alongside a fairly large population of Muslims and Sikhs - I only remember one parent pulling their child from the more religious aspects.

While my experience was by no means typical, attending a church school did solidify a Christian identity in me that stuck through most of my teenage years despite having non-religious parents. I think most of the kids weren’t affected the same way I was. I’m pretty sure parenting is generally a more important factor - I do remember having arguments about evolution with the more fundamentalist kids when I was nine or ten

I agree parenting is likely stronger than schooling. I had secular parents and the school's attempts to Christianise me ultimately failed. Nevertheless, even though the school wasn't very intense about it, I didn't have an easy time bucking its influence. For anybody with a religious parental upbringing AND religious schooling, I would think it extremely difficult - and painful - for them to choose for themselves. In a sense I wish it were illegal for parents to try to shape their children's religious views, but I don't see how it could be enforced, either in practice or in any socially-acceptable way. It's rather a conundrum that we want to stop parents from harming their kids but we hate the idea of interfering with parenting. And we don't know for sure that being religious is harmful overall. I'd say that it can't be good to fill a child's head with superstition, but it must be an amazing comfort to be convinced on a deep level that you're not going to die. Sometimes the truth really hurts and you wish you hadn't discovered it.

" For anybody with a religious parental upbringing AND religious schooling, I would think it extremely difficult - and painful - for them to choose for themselves. "

For me it wasnt a quick process as i imagine it isnt for anyone who is indoctrinated as a child. I had stumbled across multiple explanations before I actually was more confident that it's the truth. But this was done across years and years. Practically my family was against religion, because we were non mainstream but we believed in god, we had more restrained cult thinking and rules, we werent allowed technology, festivities like xmas, easter, crosses were a sin which i had trouble with in school when in Religion class i started crying while the teacher took my hand and did it for me because she thought that i couldnt do it not that i was holding back, and holy man-made images, copies of the deities were a sin.

Like i said we had non optional pretty much religion until my parents talked to the people and took me off when i was older, and i was supposed to have a teacher but since our religion didnt practically exist as a spreadaround item and teachers were just my dad since he was the cult leader, that was more difficult for me to pass the classes and kids were jealous that id get max scores all the time without taking tests while they were at school learning.

Then my high school was Christian Orthodox and hat was a lot of bull and a drag, we had studied a lot of stuff because despite being languages directed, we were stuffed a lot of religion classes just like the priest classes of boys nearby, so we learned a lot of what they learn throughout high school. I dont really think i was actually complete by the time i finished high school, like a complete atheist so that didnt really bother me at the time that i remember, the religious aspects themselves, maybe being religious in name it was to be expected it would teach so much religion, i was just glad we had no maths. I liked that in some holidays instead of classes wed have church meetings and we needed to be present there, teachers would check to see if we were. It was extremely boring but someties wed go for a while and drink cocoa in restaurants or just walk outside because a church is that lame it cant keep people around for too long. Wed return when the presence was shouted, wed get messages or calls from classmates.

It was scary to give up, unsettling as I felt i was betraying god, and possibly facing damnation "if" and it took some strength and direction to find the path forward until i found that its not scary at all, and that the world doesnt end and that there are meaningful things about the world and each other. That if was very strong, I spent a long time being agnostic and just that, because denying had too many repercussions. But now I can happily say it's very comforting to be an atheist, i know religious people lament and pity us but they have no idea how insulting that is, because we see the world clear and arent limited by confusion and fears of sin or of science and advancement. We dont buy bull anymore. We only live once so we have a lot more responsibility for ourselves and the people around us and their belongings, because they wont regain anything and they wont have any afterlife. I only got more convinced of my beliefs the more i read and understood how the world works, all the religions and the typical human brain wiring which doesn't like to be alone and without guidance, which is why churches were used to deflate mass hysteria.

Very comforting was because we can be thankful and careful with the nature, a concept thats always been close to my heart, and that kindness and values only become stronger once you are free of one certain religion and at war with sinners, different beliefs and the devil. I'm pretty sure a lot of atheists actually become close to humans than when they were religious, I know i did. I know my dad was disrooted from the reality and family he had so that he couldnt take care of us and ultimately even himself. Nevertheless I still feel some responsibility that I need to do my part to help others find their path like i found mine and escape the trauma religion can inflict upon their lives, thinking, awareness and free will. My dads friend, part of his clan, believes his schizophrenia actually means hes seen angels and demons, that makes it really hard on his condition and his psychiatrist recommended him steer away from religion. It can really complicate people's lives and make them see reality distorted to great extents. I feel so free without it yet sad many are still under its manipulating claw.

I believe im gonna fall because it's the most likely and accurate possibility in sight and humans have done it before, filmed themselves and failed. Reality and admitting weakness isnt easy. It's not all positive things. Sometimes reality of life is scary. But we have to accept the truth.

Then again personally, as an atheist, I dont fear death. The mechanics of it aren't that scary and dont by a mile compare to going to hell or some life hardships as loss. Life can be boring, wearisome, repetitive. No matter where in the world ill be is just world. And the world is boring and annoying as f**k. Well, not as f**k, but yknow what i mean.

I dont feel sad about letting go of that delusion as much anymore. Yeah might be a sense of feeling support to know youve got someone even if hes totally nuts and hes got you, if you obey his command like a slave [slave master relationship is portrayed to have explained the relationship between god and human in christianity for example which i think is completely old defective thinking for our current advancement] because he can be there. But then you realize that you can make your life positive by focusing on what you have, because no one has that, they just think they do. The world is still there after all and despite that we only have humans and are the worst at connecting with them and having friends and support, there are things about the world that are cool. And there are things we can see without being influenced by religious traditional stuff that aren't actually scientific. So i would say, the world and its workings are clear to us. And we have each other, even though we are so rare. Thousands of people in churches, theres nobody meeting that i can talk with in rl about my beliefs and practice what i think is positive for me and the world. But i can listen to videos. I mean, who talks in churches anyway, not I, I wouldn't due to anxiety likely.

The idea that people have a choice whether or not to believe has always seemed plain wrong to me. I was never certain that the religion they were teaching me was the truth, and that idea of theirs, that I could only escape damnation or whatever by choosing to believe, caused me a lot of anxiety. If it had been that simple I'd have just done it and saved myself all that worry.

I agree that just going out like a candle isn't so bad. Ceasing to exist can be a scary thought, but really I'm more concerned these days with the quality of my death, and I just hope it's not a painful, drawn-out death, I hope I don't know much about it. At least I won't have to worry about hell. I've often thought that I wouldn't want to take away somebody's belief that they're going to heaven, especially if they knew they didn't have long to live, because if they'd become dependent on that then psychologically it could be very nasty for them, but I'd have no problem telling them they weren't going to hell. And I don't know how a superstitious person can be 100% confident that they've made the grade and will get to the Good Place. The entrance requirements are so open to interpretation. Compared with all that, just ceasing to exist, though not exactly pleasant, isn't so awful. It won't hurt.

Well on the other hand, if theyre concerned that they have sinned, which every christian does, then they could feel some relief to know and might be thankful, depends on the time they need to be convinced of it. If not I dont know if they would be or not a fan of having religious debates a lot of their time before their death. Some people like it, it distracts some from thinking about their demise, but some don't cause it probably is confrontational and gives them anxiety because they need to feel like theyre in a pure mood and mindset all the time, might feel rejection if someone has a different belief especially "rejecting" god, but as an atheist you can't reject god. Takes a lot of effort and time to explain and a lot of effort on their part nonetheless to comprehend cause it's just so different and it's dealing with emotions too.

In some places in the Bible they talk about the mark of God being on the hands and forehead, particularly IIRC in the future apocalyptic times. I think we've found a new way to baptize ourselves.

In Africa they cut the clitoris of the females, thinking it's a way to discourage female orgasm and masturbation but it doesn't do that and instead in increases vaginal infections because it's meant to protect. It's actually done without any anaestethic, it's horrifying. The girls just walk off with an open cut on their genitals and missing pieces.

Theres a tradition in India which makes mothers and families of kids rub cow dung [cows being seen as holy] on the freshly cut bellybutton of a newborn, a lot of babies are dying due to this because their immunity isnt at all formed, no breastfeeding at that point with colostrum that makes up their first immunity. Theyre trying to educate families and tell them about survival chances of their children but people still do this because of the religious tradition still holding power.

While your body might be experiencing great terror, your mind just before death will hallucinate, I take this as an opportunity to experience something intensely weird and its comforting to know that i wont die acknowledging that pain but some odd stuff imagery of some sort. Some more brutal happenings may put the mind in an euphoric state where you are missing a leg and arm but cant feel a damn thing lol.
To die slowly of old age might be the hardest, or to actually live with pain for like 10 years, now thats some s**t that makes grandmas pray to kick the bucket faster. Thats what made Jack Kevorkian put to death painful terminal disease people upon consulting them and their families, true case also movie "You don't know Jack." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Kevorkian

A potential to see a bit more Human Potential in Life....

Been There and Done 'Terminator Machine', 'Matrix', And 'Avatar' Life;
Yet i make sure i escape every dam day, Dancing Singing Free With Others and

Become More FULLY Human again too... FOR FLESH AND BLOOD HEaRT PUMPING REaL...

i Didn't Have A Choice

Before, Functionally

Disabled; Sadly,

Humans

Volunteer

Now to Become

Functionally Disabled

the Majority of their Life now

in this New Experiment Where

We Are Both Scientist and Guinea Pig Now...

'The Ignorance' is the 'Common Religion' Now of Humankind...

At Least For

Us

'Civilized' Folks...

Everyday, i return
to the Living Call of the Wild, Just outside this
24-Inch Window Prison; And 27.1 Inch iMac Screen
And 6 Inch iPhone Screen too; Yet Paradise REAL Garden
of Eden Forest Free Just, Outside my Frigging Back Door Free

To Dance Naked
And Become
Sand

And

Sun

Fur And

Wings Free

FRiEnDS With

Gravity For Real

Inhaling Peace, Exhaling Love Free...

True, i've Collected Art to iLLuSTRaTE What This Looks Like

Too, to Return to Wild Animal Kingdom, Frigging Sanity, Naked And F in Loving Free...
