But Lisa is one of a growing number of Australians who has used the various lockdowns to turn her life around.
The 48-year-old mum of two and senior designer in a high-pressure role has enjoyed nearly two years of sobriety – an achievement she credited to COVID-19 lockdowns, shutdowns and stay-at-home orders.
"I was kidding myself for so long, drinking away, self-medicating … using alcohol as a crutch to get through life, get through pain, forget stuff, forget your problems," she said.
"COVID happened and it was so good for me because it forced me to sit with my feelings and get better."
