They are often confused. People may accidentally refer to one of them with the other name or think they are just two different names for the same amusement park.

I've never heard them confused. DL is in California, and it's the original. DW is in Florida.

I've been to both many times.

It is probably more common for people to confuse them if they live relatively close to one of the parks, like if they live somewhere in Florida or California. They may hear the other name and think it is just another name for the local park.
