I think Cyndi Lauper may be on the spectrum. She definately displays evidence of masking along with a few other traits that I have noticed. She seems a nice person, and if she sees this I hope that she understands that I am not trying to say anything negative about her. If anything I regard it as positive.

Have you noticed anyone famous who maybe on the spectrum who display traits and they may not know they have them?

I think the psychiatrists and psychologists are right about MOST people they say are on the spectrum that are famous.

Let's just say every celebrity is on the spectrum and be done with it.

I object! There are some celebrities I do not want to share a Spectrum with.

There are confirmed celebrities who are on the spectrum I do not want to share the spectrum with, but that aside...

I think I agree with the Cyndi Lauper suggestion. Although to be honest, now that I am learning more about ASD, I am seeing more and more people who I think could be on the spectrum, who probably are not.

Here's some:

Rihanna
Katy Perry
Kim Kardashian
Tom Cruise
Arianna Grande
Johnny Depp
David Beckham
Joanna Lumley
Will Smith
Russell Crowe
Amy Winehouse
Angelina Jolie
Macaulay Culkin
Paris Hilton
Sarah Jessica Parker

By the way these are just random celebrities with no evidence that any of them are on the spectrum but is easy to just say on an autism forum.

According to the doc who diagnosed me, he and his collegues, just accept it as fact that Bill Gates is aspie.

Actress Daryll Hannah is diagnosed. But she is the only celeb I know of who is officially diagnosed.

Many of the famous come off as possible aspies.

But its hard enough for an expert to diagnose a person face to face.

Some historic figures who many claim as aspie are doubtful (like Thomas Jefferson, and Abe Lincoln).

Some famous people, living and dead, probably are/were, aspie. But its hard to say which ones were/are actually that, and which just have some aspie like traits.

Jazz pianist and composer Thelonius Monk was probably an aspie IMHO.

Oh, no!  We cannot do that!  We simply MUST include EVERY real historical figure and EVERY fictional character from literature and motion pictures -- past, present, and future -- to be so firmly embedded in the autistic spectrum that someone would have to invent a new word just for those people with autism who can never be so well-known!

Upon what evidence do you base your opinion?

Just curious.

Lincoln was way too people savvy to be on the spectrum. Grant on the other hand...

All were introverts with obsessive interests for one. In Lovecraft's case I'm nearly certain he was aspie or otherwise on the spectrum. He didn't finish school, but had extensive knowledge of things that interested him. He had no people skills despite a brief marriage. His finances were always bad because he spent all his money on his interests even neglecting proper meals. He could have got a job as a magazine editor but didn't because he didn't want to have to move.

Now you will say Hitler wasn't an introvert. Well he was great at public speaking as are many Aspies. Personally he had no known romantic or otherwise close relationships. And he certainly had obsessive interests.

Let's diagnose Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore, besides the obvious intellectual impairments. :nerdy:
