Without James Gandolfini providing voice-over (may he rest in peace), I do not see the point.

Although I am certain that Michael Gandolfini will do a bang-up job.

The point is it's an interesting back story to the series. Actually, you do hear Gandolfini's voice at the beginning, which was sad and chilling at the same time.

I may give it a fair shot anyway; but it is much like watching old episodes of Jeopardy! with Alex Trebec still in his prime.
