Hi, WP!

I have just been diagnosed at age 69. Better late than never, I guess. Posting here feels really weird. I never post anything, anywhere. I'm the type that skulks around the edges, reading but never posting. So much to say but saying nothing.

I'm hoping that I will feel freer to participate in the forums here because you are folks that won't tell me to "shut the f*** up" or "people are afraid of you because they never know what you're going to say" or "you're too blunt" or "only you, Vicky". You understand.

Welcome to WP! I was (comparatively) a youngster when I was diagnosed: 64. If you've been poking around WP you already know there are a number of folk here with a lot of experience having birthdays.

I distrust computers and the Internet (I started using computers in 1971, studied them in college, worked with them until I retired in 2011, and still think they are fun toys!) so, so far, this is the only social website I participate in. And I like it here--and I hope you will, too.

One note though, if you've met one Autistic you've met one Autistic. From time to time you may find yourself unhappy with a thread or an individual on WP. If/when that happens, please don't leave WP! Just wander over to a different thread.

And, definitely, welcome!

Welcome. I discovered I was autistic a month before my 64th birthday. It pleases me there are others, like you, who are older than I. Helps me think I have a future. Unlike doubly retired, I have responsible business to run and wish I could just get singly retired. :D

Welcome.

Compared to you I was a toddler when I was diagnosed at age 49 :D

Same with me. I was diagnosed at the age of 13.

Hi and welcome TMY. :) What part of the US were you originally from(if you don’t mind the question). I’m an Aussie who moved to England, wound up living in the US for awhile, and have Irish ancestry and friends. Hope you enjoy WP. Good to have you with us.

Welcome. I think I was 55 when I was diagnosed. Do you find getting your diagnosis a blessing or a curse? I think of mine as a blessing as it helped make sense of, what up until then, had been a very confusing life.
