What to do if a girl is taking longer and longer to reply?

She might give a polite or vague answer to be polite. They work together. She might not want to text anything to make coworker upset.

So the best thing she can do in this situation is be polite, but not reply to him as frequently to where eventually he realizes he's not getting much of a conversation and he loses interest in texting her.

I didn't pick up she was a co-worker.
She may be concerned things may get ugly at work, so she is just being polite.

A number of people suggested he should wait for her to make it clear that she wants to continue the friendship, myself included.
I wouldn't ghost her, but I leave it up to her to re-initiates.

I'd contact her in, say, 3 months time if nothing happens.
If nothing has happened by then, he should know where he stands. 8)
