Quote:
I've had two good friends unfriend me because of politics. I may not hold back on my opinions, but I really don't think I'm ever mean or absolute about it, and I try to be balanced, but around 2016 the way people read my posts seemed to change overnight. 4 decades of adult life I've been the same me with almost no problems, and just like that conservatives see me entirely differently than they used to.

I have also been unfriended by few of my high school mates but I figured it was showing their true colors. If I must be unfriended over being anti racist, taking about racism, and supporting black lives, then they have showed their true colors. Same as when I was anti Trump. Why would anyone feel threatened by this? I have seen anti Obama but never felt threatened by it. Funny enough someone who used to be a WP member here didn't like Obama but also didn't like Trump either. They had their Facebook page public.

That isn’t true.

Dox47 and I have both already explained that criticism is fine; it is the use of racist words while doing so that is not fine. We had opposite political opinions agreeing on this question; why are you stirring it up?

Any time I had any difference of opinion about his policies it was alway first labeled as racist. Even not voting for him got me called a racist.

I am sorry to read this. I know enough about you to know you would hate most of his policies based on political ideology alone, without needing to add his race into the mix (I honestly don’t know if you ever did or did not).

Let's not kid ourselves, 99% of the criticism aimed at Obama from republican supporters was to do with his background, I don't recall any erudite placards carried by tea Party nutters proclaiming any worth while rebuttal to policy.

Amen, brother Cyberdad, Amen!

@ DW_a_mom

That went over my autistic head.

Yeah, he might have wanted it to. Or not. Ties back to this comment, noting that the post is an example:

Dox has made it clear he wasn't after a comment by you.
He wanted your capitulation. 8)

not true at all. only in rightwing minds.
.
Any time a criticism was lodged agains Obama the race card was played.

Most people in the know see through this ploy, these days.
It isn't taken seriously and diminishes the credibility and integrity of the people trying to use this old trope, imo. 8)

I don't believe he played the "race card"---except maybe in rare instances.

The people who objected to him being President as a black man sort of forced him to see "race." Otherwise, Obama believed in primarily "mainstream" things.

One of his parents was not black.
Just sayin'. 8)

I hated Obama's white genetic coding, not the black genetic coding.

How could that happen? If you articulate your points that it's Obama's politics/policies you object to and not the various tin-foil hat conspiracies that many republicans claim were true.

Democrats also have their nutty tin foil hat people with whom any difference of opinion is heresy.

Yes; let's see here:
Obama was actually born in Kenya.
Obama was a Muslim.
Obama belonged to a radical black church.
Obama was a communist.
Obama was a socialist.
Obama was the son of a black communist leader.
Obama was the Antichrist.
Obama was going to have the UN take the country over.
Obama hadn't really graduated from law school, even though he was a law professor.
And on, and on, and on...
Sounds pretty tinfoil hat to me.

Ah, yes, Democrat intolerance and paranoia:

That everyone should have medical coverage.
That everyone should have an actual living wage.
That everyone should have equal civil rights and the protection those give, regardless of race, color, national origin, sexuality, etc.
That everyone should have workers rights, workplace safety, and the right to collective bargaining.
And on, and on, and on...
Not exactly sure how Dems are intolerant and tinfoil hat wearers with any of that, but whatever floats your boat..

Neither did the paranoid, racist right, but that hardly mattered to them. Just as long as they could make Obama look evil.
