Tropical Cyclone Ida major threat for Gulf Coast

The death toll from the remnants of Hurricane Ida, which caused devastating flooding in New York City and New Jersey, rose to at least 26 people from Maryland to New York.

At least twelve people died in New York City when they became trapped in flooded basements and vehicles. At least 10 people were killed in New Jersey due to flooding and tornadoes brought by the storm.

In comparison, the storm which caused extensive damage in Louisiana where it first made landfall claimed two lives there.
