It's obvious to me:

Maybe the kid should have been counseled, and taught a few things in a collegial way (I mean, like a teacher to a student)----but to be arrested for this is totally absurd.

In New York County, they sure would have "declined to prosecute."

UK has strict laws about hate speech while the US does not. We're all for freedom of speech but what lot of people don't understand is it does not exempt you from social consequences. So yeah if that happened here in the US, he wouldn't be arrested for it and prosecuted.

The site you referenced is a TERF site, but I don't think the teen should have been arrested. Misgendering is rude though.

Would counter sue for hate crime against people that are not neurotypical lol .

Lgbtqfhs think they have a monopoly on victimization.

I was not aware of that site, I only found it when I searched the article online because link wasn't posted at reddit where a screen shot of the headline was shared. But I guess that explains the misgendering in the comments. Just ugh.

Looking at the photo, I immediately thought, it's a guy. No way would I know he is trans just by looking at him.

That being the case, my question is, were the kid's remarks even about the cop at all, in the first place, or about someone else entirely? Is it possible that the cop may have wrongly assumed that the remarks were about himself?

"Is it a boy or a girl?" is a question that usually gets asked about newborn babies, not about adults.
