Hey we got some stupid laws over here in UK. we got a Television tax. A Freakin Television Tax. I been dreamin of the idea of livin in america for many years, the fact there's no" tv license "is just 1 out of a 100 various reasons i would move. Not that i'm blind to USA bad points.

Aren't streaming services making a BBC tv tax obsolete?

I am an American, and I pay $10/month for ACORN TV, which streams BBC shows.

I have Disney plus for Star Wars and Marvel, HBO Max for Doctor Who, and Paramount for Star Trek ( I love all the recent Trek series, and the Jodie Doctor, and the Star Wars Sequels. If you hate them I don't wish to debate you at all).

I'm confused.
If you watch TV but don't watch the BBC, how do they know?

They don't truly know. There's BBC 1 and 2, then there's the other channels like ITV (3rd channel), Channel 4 etc. that have adverts. Those are therefore free, whereas the BBC doesn't have any adverts, hence the license fee.

The above is excluding the rest of the channels, like BBC 4, ITV2 etc. though the same rules apply.

There used to be a "Sunshine Tax" in the UK.
Some people bricked up their windows as a result.
Perhaps you should consider something like that?

scandinavia or canada would be a humongous "upgrade" for me but the cost is prohibitive, just as it is for just about any nice thing in life.

I'm glad CBC just runs commercials occasionally. :nerdy:

There's elements I like about each of them. I used to really like TVO as a kid as well. Me at 8 was older than I am now. :nerdy:

Well according to online media anyway, a lot of America is in chaos because shelves are empty in stores in many places. Is this true, or is it exagerated?
