My favorite school teacher who was like a second mother to me died from Covid yesterday while on a ventilator. She was the same age as my mom (not to mention good friends with her), in perfect health, and even had her Covid vaccine.

Now I'm really upset. This now makes four people I know who have died from Covid.

I'm sorry to hear that.

Also, why are people dying from covid even when vaccinated?

While most vaccinated individuals won't experience severe symptoms, there is always the chance for breakthrough infection with COVID. As King0fSpades said, we didn't have 100 percent efficacy with these vaccines against the alpha variant. With the delta variant, we have an even less efficacy. There are also individuals who are immunocompromised (due to health issues or even other drug treatments), meaning they didn't necessarily build a proper immune response (build proper antibodies) through vaccination. This is one of the reasons vaccine boosters have been rolled out in the US.

Well that's terrible news :/ sorry to hear that. I haven't lost anyone Close to me to covid - only some distant relatives I didn't really know who were in their 80's with underlying health conditions.

Fully vaxxed? Or had 1 of 2 shots? If fully vaxxed with mRNA vaccines, that's.. really, really rare and unfortunate. :/

I know it’s not fair. She did what she had to do…and she still paid the ultimate price.

It’s a terrible thing, this COVID. We have to continue to fight this like hell!

Honestly I just feel like giving up sometimes...

I had a dream last night that my mom died from the coronavirus. I hope that never happens. She has severe health problems and if she ever got Covid it could kill her, and I depend so much on her. I literally have no one else.
