Misinterpretation of facial expressions - a 2 way thing?

Is it actually a two way thing? My ADOS report had the following comment

. I wasn't in the least bit amused. That's my 'nervous as f***' expression. The stress induced 'gormless grin'.

I think it is. I think I often appear angry or at least uncomfortable in my facial expression. I squint and furrow my brow unconsciously, partly because the light is hurting my eyes.

In terms of reading others expressions I think a lot of it is because I'm not looking at their face. I can usually read facial expressions when I'm shown photos but frequently misread people in real life.
